The British passport is red and the Irish one is green unless they have recently changed it.

If you were born in India or Pakistan or China and Japan or the West Indies
or Belfast or Derry or even Co Kerry you can easily get an United Kingdom passport.
To get an Irish passport you need to be born in Ireland or to be off irish
    parentage.

The security guy who works in our Belfast Office and who comes from Donegal but doesn't have any passport was told that he had to become a British citizen to get a UK passport. He was actually asked by an official (Australian) in the British embassy how he got into the UK without an Irish passport.

For the UK one? Allegedly 2 weeks, but i'll tell you better after this wednesday. I guess the advantage for me was they check it for you before it goes off, so theres no (?) risk of getting it sent back due to an error.

If he booked a flight from Derry City airport to UK and showed his driving licence as ID he would be alright. So much for your security guy.
You can travel easily from Ireland to UK and vice versa.
Been going on for years otherwise England would have had no motorways.
