Hi Hutch, interesting thread... good figures Bryan...guessing you have 4 hrs of heat per day in the cold season. Using Ebico and Oxford area that is £370 p.a. total for gas/electric. More details !! yes please....combi/conventional e.g.
Am 3000kwh more than you for gas and 200 less on the electric.
Hi Ken, Yes 1hr H+HW 6am-7am 3hr H only 6pm -9pm..
Conventional boiler, 15 yr old Gloworm . Sophisticated room thermostat can apply different temps at different times. We set 21c for the hours above and 15c all other times. Frostguard 5c setting when away. All rads have thermo valves. We use electric shower (not power shower) once each daily, baths only on special occasions (don't ask) Forgot to say earlier, the house was upgraded when council owned. They dry lined all rooms with insulated plasterboard on top of original plaster,I think about 25mm thick, so there is an additional air gap under this. We are just switching to Ebico from S elec/BG. I don't really believe their predictions but we'll see. BBThis is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0 -
12.23pence per kwh for southern area on Ebico map and 2.86pence for gas. No standing charge, includes VAT and no discounts.
Only heat water once a week, does for a couple of days then draw water from the hot tap for boiling in electric kettle. Another economy is no oven/hob..use microwave/slow cooker a lot.
Think there are now grants from EST for insulated plasterboard work, but lots of hoops.0 -
cheers...was expecting to pay much more after seeing constant price rises on the news...0

Almost a 'how long is a piece of string question'!
Depends on so many factors, Size of 2 bed, type of insulation, metered or not for water. out at work or home a lot.
A ballpark figure would be £100 a month.
Smallish 2 bed semi, out at work from 6.30am til 6pm...no idea about insulation, the surveyors will let us know in a few days...0
