Hi All,
Thanks for your suggestions/comments: I shall register twith the high street agencies and see what they can do for me. I don't / cannot drive which is a minor hindrance, and can't afford to relearn right now for obvious reasons. I cant go down the constructive dismissal route as having resigned last May, I have not been there for 1 yr yet (re. continuity of employment).
What do you mean having resigned last May? Have you worked for organisation prior to now?
Why not submit a grievance or harassment case? This can even be done by e-mail, whilst you are off sick, and it will need to be investigated.
Are you a member of any union? Bullying should not be tolerated in any shape of form. Can you claim any form of discrimination as well [these are always biggies in Employment Tribunals]; eg is your Harassor a male and you female or vice versa. Do not allow the bully to win by resigning and putting yourself in more debt. Also, do not jeopardise yourself and put yourself in a position where you could be dismissed.0 -
bestmumof3 thatnks for your comments. I've a huge thread on this elsewhere. I am female, the main perpetrator is male. I have such a long story. Look for 'Bullying in the workplace?' by Suzkin on this board. I could write a book! Yep - I resigned last May (I think) but stupidly retuned in August. In Sept. the remarks started again - this time from others in his small circle....:-(0

I think I need to read your other thread!
Be back soon (or later depending on the length of it!)

P.S. I don't understand what you mean, you "think" you resigned in May? - I'll go read your other thread.

Good luck! It's miserable reading, so my apologies...I say I 'think' as it may have been at the start of June 2007 etc.0

^ points to above post^ I agree -those are the things that I was trying to say, perhaps not so well. I just have a concern that, by working or seeking work whilst on sick leave your current employer could find out and that in turn might lead to disciplinary procedures or dismissal, when all along the real problem of the bullying has not been adressed. Anyway, it's entirely Suzkins decision.
On the subject of earning money, I would definatley not rule out ebay for items you don't even think that you could sell- it's amazing what some people need and will buy.... and whatever your opinion of ebay it does reach the biggest no of buyers.0 -
I don't want to sound unsympathetic, but why are people who are bullied at work entitled to SSP? I have every sympathy for people who are being bullied at work, but surely these things should be resolved using the proper channels rather than avoiding the situation and claiming a benefit meant for those who are unfit to work, not those who don't want to go to work.I've given up trying to get my signature to work with the new rules, if nobody knows what the rules are what hope do we have?0

can't you get housing benefit or council tax benefit? If not, then try going into all the lopcal shops etc in the area with CVs. Quite often, they'll have some work...
Good luck

Sorry BigTurnip - I am trying to resist quoting your forum name again! I do NOT see myself as 'entitled' to anything. I have been signed off work by my GP for other reasons than simply - and to quote you - "don't want to go to work". I suggest you realise before jumping to conclusions, that you do not know the full story, if you can.
Bayblue: I am NOT currently working: I have been signed off sick! My GP - who I have been seeing regularly during this time - is aware of everything. I am slowly making steps towards recovery, and if that also means looking around at jobs to see what else is out there, than so be it.
In your previous post you seem to suggest that I am running away from the issue - this could not be furthest from the truth, and appears to be the exact reverse: I ensured my boss knew on each occasion what was happening, and even eventually had to write a letter. HR gave me wrong (unprofessional) advice, hoping I would simply 'go away'. It was only when I wrote HR another letter last week after making a phone call as to why no-one had acknowledged my original letter, that they are now (possibly) listening to me. btw: having managed staff and a service myself before, I would NEVER have allowed anyone at work to be treated in the way that has been directed at me.
So, please try to resist being so judgmental - given that I am off sick for a good reason, whilst your interest and advice has been noted, I do not need others to contend with.0 -
Apologies- no offence intended. As I said it was just a thought which had accured to me, and yes you're quite correct in assumming that I have not read the whole story of your work troubles. As I say, it was just a thought.
I'm clearly not suitable to offer any help or encouragement so I'll step out of your thread. Best wishes- I hope that everything works out for you.0 -
Suzkin, you are right that I don't know the full story, so I am just making a comment on the portion of the story you have decided to share with us. You are currently claiming SSP due to "problems at work" and looking to either return to work or find a new job, unless you want to enlighten us further I can only base my opinion on what you have told us.I've given up trying to get my signature to work with the new rules, if nobody knows what the rules are what hope do we have?0
