Halifax to relaunch regular saver @10%+

Even though the sort no for the new Reg Saver account is shown on the APACS site as being elligible for faster transfers, I have been unsuccessful. It did appear 2 day's later from a Barclays' current account transfer into their Regular Saver. Transfers from a Halifax current account to their Regualr Saver also appears to be blocked, I have tried it twice. I can transfer Barclays' current to Halifax current in minutes under the new system but not from Halifax current to the Regular Saver. We therefore seem to have to accept a BACS delay. So much for the faster payments system.
My faster (opening) payment from HSBC into the Halifax RS account processed immediately.0 -

There are savings accounts that allow BACS transfers to be made to any account with a sort code and account number. Egg is one example, but I'm sure there's a thread around here somewhere with higher paying ones. You'd need to initiate each transfer yourself, but Halifax won't be able to tell the difference between that and a standing order. Don't forget a payment, though!

My HSBC Premier Savings account allows Faster Payments but not standing orders so I guess that I have to move the money across each month. What a pain !!
The Halifax have told me that they do not allow manual "Single Immediate Payments" to be received via the Faster Payments system for the remaining monthly deposits. Apparently these must be made by Standing Order !!0 -

Is this correct, was going to just send the payments each month via the Faster Payments system, rather than a standing order as my Bank won't be sending Standing orders by Faster Payment system until end of this year early next year0 -

Really silly isn't it ? I was going to do exactly the same as you. But apparently "YES". At least that's what the Savings Team told me when I phoned up and posed the question.
So rather than risk them converting my RS account into a Variable Rate Web Saver half way through the year  I'm going to grit my teeth and make the payments (reluctantly) by Standing Order.
p.s. HSBC won't have Standing Orders being processed via FP until 2009.0 -
So can I just get this right in my head.
If I hold 5000 in a halifax account + add 500 pounds per month to the saver account a total of 6000 pounds, would I get the 12% interest on just the new saver account or on the total amount for the 2 accounts (eg 11000 pounds).
Can the standing order come from a compleatly different bank.

I've just opened one, luckily I'm already a Halifax customer so it was quite quick to do online. I am also going for the extra 2% by opening a Guaranteed Saver with a deposit of £5K. The SO will come from my current account, but it can be setup to transfer from other external accounts.0

You will get 12% on the regular saver only.
Standing order can come from any bank.0 -

No - the £5,000 account would earn a lower rate of interest. The level would depend upon your choice of accounts / number of withdrawals etc.
Yes - standing order can come from any bank - but it does need to be a Standing Order payment rather than a manually sent faster payment !0 -
Thanks KTF,I will go down town tomorrow to open one,do I need to take any details as I already have an account with them?.Mfit member no 13 original balance £44000
