Recommend a good electric shower?

We've had a Mira 9.8KW Sport for over 2yr. No probs. They do a 10.8 one too I think.
Note that a beefy one will need 10mm cabling connecting it to your consumer unit. That's the fun bit *************************

I would of expected this shower to have lasted longer
I fit quite a few triton showers and they come with a 2 year guarantee
This is covered under the guarantee- give them a call on 02476325491 or 02476372222.baldly going on...0 -
On another note.
In my opinion Gainsborough are $heet
In the first 4 years of my business I wired 5 and 4 were faulty.
I now refuse to fit thembaldly going on...0 -
DEFINITELY avoid Gainsborough showers.
Personally if I were you, I'd go for a mixer shower that runs straight off yer boiler. No wiring, easy plumbing (usually) and far less bits and pieces to go wrong.
...oh, and cheaper to run...0 -
In the Mira range I would recommend the Vie,Zest or Sport models or the Aqualisa Quartz Electric range.never chew the umbilical cord!!0

but aint the point of having an electric shower, so that ur water is instant and not dependant on your boiler having hot water in it

My parents have a triton that must be getting on for 20 years and is still going strong. However comment about quality going down in recent years is accurate and you are now paying for the name rather than the quality.
We have had 3 gainsboroughs and all three still working after 2, 3 and 5 years respectively. However they seem to cause a lot of blown fuses and yes before anyone says anything we upped the cable and the fuse and they still need resetting a couple of times a year. They work ok (if you never adjust the temperature)
Mira- generally are pretty good. Only know one person who had issues and Mira sent engineer round 4 times before just replacing shower and all been good since then.
One point I would make though is that the cost of the shower is insginificant to the grief and cost if it goes wrong. Have learnt this the hard way and if there is one item I would PAY over the odds for to ensure quality it would be a shower. An extra £100 is nothing compared to the pain of waiting in for someone (and then again when parts arrive) and getting up early to have a bath or go to the gym just to use shower - and dont get me started on nagging from the wife.....
So would go Mira next time.
The kw output in my experience doesnt make a huge difference and the water pressure in your house will have much more impact on pressure.0
