  • If you make a few mobile calls from your landline, you would be better off on 1899 now

  • Can someone help this tired old brain and summarise the differences here please? Thanks

They both now charge the same to call 01/02 Geographical numbers eg just 3p connection.

1899 only charge 10p a minute for peak and evening rate calls to mobiles, where as 18866 charge 12p a minute.Their are also other minor differences depending on the destination called.

If you misdial 1899 you are not likely to end up with an expensive dq call, where as if you misdial 18866 eg 118866 you will. ;) However 18866 do offer d/d payments where as 1899 dont.

Its worth noting that sister company 18185 is even cheaper for weekend calls to moblies 2p instead of 1899/18866 3p,they are also cheaper for peak rate 0845/0870 calls. They however have have a connection charge of 4p as opposed to 1899/18866 3p.

  • today I signed my 80 year old parents up to 18866 . and they have free evening and weekend calls with Talk Talk . An orchid dialler was a must have for this one .
But now I am starting to think I should have waited until christmas .An orchid dialler for christmas !
  • Pricefighter, Are you sure 1899 don't accept DD payments? Its the only way I've ever paid their account and it comes up as Finarea on the Bank Statement
  • Yes i a m sure. They have started using the name Finerea when they take debit or credit card payments. So i can only assume you are paying by debit card. ;)

If you visit the 1899 site, and look under FAQ. How do i pay my bills. It clearly says they dont accept d/d.
