More than 10 years with Vodafone and I am leaving!
I am furious with vodafone and have asked for my Pac code.
I stupidly took out the insurance on my mobile and have been paying £6.95 per month for 18 months. After retrieving my phone form my bag I had a blank screen and I couldn't get it to work. I phoned Vodafone to get it repaired or replaced and they asked had I dropped it? not to my knowledge I just got it out of my bag and it was blank. Oh sorry they said this is not covered by insurance its for accidental damage theft etc.. and your warranty ran out 2 days ago
Ok perhaps it was knocked in my bag? No go there, you have just said not to your knowledge and we have a record of that now.. Ok cancel my account I have two phone contracts and I'm off. So vodafone if you are looking in I am taking my £84 per month business elsewhere. So much for a loyal customer who has never missed a monthly payment in 10 years..never again!! that will remind me to read the small print in future:eek:

Yes that is not very nice and an own goal by Vodafone. Of course they were legally correct in that your policy covered accidental damage, not wear and tear or mechanical failure. I would have been tempted to tell a little fib, as after all Vodafone has had a lot of money off you for no return. Also a policy that does not appear to cover theft would not be a lot of use to me. That is the main cause of loss/damage to mobiles. Many mobile phone insurance policies are a rip off. Vodafone is a bureaucracy and this case lacks the human touch0

I wish I had said that mikegahan..but I gave them the truth ..who says it doesn't pay to lie:cool: it was the attitude of the girl on the phone that really annoyed me and the subsequent phone calls later offering me another contract.
I am waiting for my Pac codes and then I am looking for another deal with another company ..Vodafone will never get my business again. I was sold the insurance over the phone and I remember them vividly saying if anything happens to the phone we will repair it and if not replace your phone ..its piece of mind for you. In all the years Ive been with them I have never asked for a phone to be repaired and my first time I get this..I am just so annoyed. I know there is nothing I can do, its my own fault for not reading the small print , I just thought they would be there if I needed them..and they aren't ..loyalty counts for nothing .0 -
Maybe being an idiot but if they only asked did you drop it.
Could you say you stood on the bag sat on it etc
You travel on the bus. You have to move towards the front of the bus whilst the bus is moving and so have to hold the straps bars etc with two hands whilst holding the bag by the staps. The bag then swings against various obstructions.
I thought this was a good idea when I first started but they must have covered themselves surely or would it depend whats on there systems notes?
Maybe you would rather have nothing more to do with them. You might have to lose out on a repair to your phone if you don't try though. It would cost Vodafone
and the administrative costs aswell even if you didn't stay with them.
If "and have been paying £6.95 per month for 18 months"is correct then your out of contract but "and your warranty ran out 2 days ago" confuses me because I expwcted it to be 12 months unless its 18 months on 18 month contracts. Leading to 2 days out of contact being your months ended two days ago and 18 months of contract.
I wonder whether they were in disbelief that you wouldn't just order a new 18 month contract it doesnt appear that your on a particularly good value one either. I thought maybe your a business user though where the deals are less competitive although would £6.95 insurance be available? I think they just expected you to want a new phone as this is usually what the vast majority of people do after there out of contract, either renew with a retention offer or move on to another provide going through Quidco usually with a cashback deal resulting in paying very little if its within your tariff requirements(Only consumers though really but if a 2 phone business,I would expect it to be fine and great for you maybe a grand a year in your hand tax free(I think).).
May be you should just renew with them as you'll get a new deal with a new phone that if not free shouldn't be too much especially as you may be able to use your bad experience and get some leverage.
Maybe making the thread released enough anger to make Vodafone a viable option again especially if you've had 10 trouble free years with them and were happy with them.
Another point is probably every other company would have came to the same company , the insureers anyway I would have thought. You could put this down as a lesson learned .Had you been mid contract and not adapted which parts of your experience you chose to tell them and which which absent minded self often forgets
.The results could be no working phone and the need to buy a new/used one if not keep paying the contract fees.
I regret pressing the reply button after typing this from over 3 hours ago. There now may be lots of replies which same the same or different but I 'm just pointing out that I haven't copied what you say I started this when /maybe still are 3 posts.

isnt dropping it an accident?QuidcoPaid;£989.08

Total Earnt:£1061.590 -
Dropping the phone is an accident gunton10 but unfortunaely the words I used when I rang up was.. I took my phone out of my bag and it had a blank screen, she then asked had I dropped it? and I said not to my knowledge..so she said I wasn't covered..I paid £125 over the term of the conract for reassurance and it wasn't there when I needed it.
I ordered my PAC code a week on Thursday and still hadn't recieved it in the post so I rang again and they said it hadn't been requested ..another annoying mistake by them so after requesting it again a guy called last night and asked me why I was leaving etc he said he would text my PAC code immediately and I am still waiting:eek:
I understand I would probably be able to negotiate a good deal now with me pulling both phones to another network..but do I really want to deal with these people again..and that answer is no. I am a loyal customer who pays all my bills on time and I like a little bit respect for that ..but they seem to be pushing my temperature up even more each time they make another mistake.
I would like to move immediately but without my PAC code there is little I can do. Their delaying tactics are working they will be recieving another £84 from me this month which is making me more annoyed:rotfl:0 -
I've always got my PAC straight away over the phone. Also I thought requesting your PAC is a move that is also saying your giving the network your 30 days disconnection notice.
