08457 302010 number tells me to complain to 01793 712427

01793 712427 number tells me to complain to 01793 697900

BT operator assistance tells me that 01793 697900 is disconnected / not associated with a customer anymore.

Seems like a very bad sign!

"We are currently experiencing very high call volumes at the moment, and are unable to take your call. Your call is important to us..."

Don't dial 08457 302010... dial 0800 30 20 10... say 'complaints' as soon as the robot starts speaking and you get transferred to the switchboard operator - from there ask for the 'ISA transfer team' - never pay for a call to Nationwide!

My story; (pass on if you wish)
Yesterday I my call took 64 minutes - the first 14 minutes or so just waiting to speak to someone in ISAs. He was clueless and finally put me through to his 'supervisor' - who was also clueless - who them transferred me through to his manager - who was only vaguely less 'clueless' - largely on account of having received a bit more training on how to speak to people. The attitude you encounter from Nationwide shows no shame at the long delays - merely acceptance that they can't do anything more for you. The excuse they now use (officially) is 'postal problems' - meaning in my case that (they claim) it took them about two weeks more to 'receive' my cheque from Scarborough than the same cheques Scarborough sent (successfully) to three other places in the country. They are lying but I couldn't get the manager of the ISA Transfer Team to come out of her (thin) shell of deception and admit so. I said that if postal delays were a reality they should say so in their letters they send out. I said that they had said they would open an account 'within ten days' according to their letter to me but she said it meant 'working days'. I said, in that case, the letter is misleading. She said, they'd look at the wording in the letter.. Meanwhile, I wanted to know exactly when they've received the cheque - they couldn't say, whilst maintaining that the cheque had been scanned in to their system only on same the day I called (coincidence, or a lie whilst they hope it turns up?)

The people directly responsible for this alleged meltdown aren't those doing the transfers but the executives who take the board room salaries. Anyone who presently has an ISA transfer problem with Nationwide at present should be writing to

graham.beale@nationwide.co.uk

.. and send an email EACH day after the first one saying that you are fed up with the excuses and if things don't improve you'll be petitioning for his resignation. Remember - Nationwide has form for being lax with transfers. Be sarcastic too. Suggest that Nationwide appears to be running out of excuses - so probably needs to expand the creative department - that sort of thing. Ask him what his golf handicap is (etc)

My wife & I have been in the process of transferring out of NS&I Direct ISA and our experiences have been markedly different. My ISA money was with my new ISA provider within 2 weeks. However, coming up for a month now, and my wifes NS&I direct ISA is still refusing to budge. NS&I say that they try to complete within 30-days as per HMRC suggestion.

Why would it be so different for each of us??? Beggars belief.

Clearly, the basic ISA idea is good, but the stupid T&C's are ill conceived.

BTW calling NS&I is akin to a goat rodeo!
In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:

I've just rung the freephone...be prepared to hold for 20mins at least to get through to ISA transfers. But...it was then confirmed that my money is sitting there...passbook going to be another 2wks...I applied for a transfer back on 3rd March:mad:

I'm transferring from NS&I ISA to Nationwide Fixed rate ISA that has no withdrawals during the fixed period of 1 year. Does it make any difference how long the transfer takes as Nationwide say that the rate when I applied will be honoured. As far as I can see the furore over lengthy transfers is a waste of peoples energy and phone bills, as long as the cash is available in full after 12 months.
Different of course if you can actually withdraw, but not much different if you don't want to withdraw. I thought the basic idea was to leave the money in an ISA to retain it's tax free status.

I'm transferring to a cash ISA so that I can withdraw and pay in when I want. I should have been able to pay in £3600 on the 6th April but as I have no account number yet, I cannot. So, I have lost any interest I would have had on that £3600 since 5th April to ? (date depends on when I receive passbook and account number)
Plus, sometimes something unexpected turns up and money is needed urgently...no chance of getting mine! It has been in limbo since 3rd March:mad:

What stopped you opening an account with the £3600 on 6th April and transferring into it later?
Surely no real amount of interest lost on £3600, unless it's under the bed.
