As the evidence suggests, I think you'll find they are verymuch something of the present.0 -
Does anyone know the number to call Virgin on to book courier flights with them? Its proved a lot harder to find a no. to ring compared to BA.........
I flew BA to Tokyo back in January as a courier and made a massive saving on cost of flight. Would recommend it to everyone.0 -
As above, BA do still require Couriers although nowadays only LHR-NRT (Tokyo) and BKK (Bangkok)-LHR. The price you pay is significantly discounted for your one-way services but is a Return fare. The days of actually carrying anything, however, are a thing of the past. It's merely a paper exercise nowadays so the Courier is treated like any other passenger. Dressing smartly is also not required as all Couriers are seated in World Traveller (Staff Couriers used to travel in Club World hence the dress code).
Beware! There may/will be SIGNIFICANT delays on arrival since you will not be permitted to leave the Baggage Hall until the packages you've been 'carrying' have cleared Customs. You can't be held responsible for their contents but as I said, it's largely a paper exercise nowadays. An hour waiting in Tokyo's Narita airport is not unusual.0 -
how cheap are these flights? And do you have to give up all your luggage?0
-
London-Tokyo is about £300rtn so almost half price, although obviously there's only one space per flight so Couriers are better suited to lone travellers. Acting as a Courier involves entering into a contract beyond that of a normal passenger whereby you MUST travel on that flight on that date. Changes are NOT permitted under any circumstances.
Your luggage allowance is unaffected.0 -
The flights cost me £300 London to Tokyo. My boyfriend and I were both booked as couriers, so on the flight to Tokyo we couldn't fly together, but my flight was only 2 hrs after his, so no biggy! For the flight back you don't act as a courier so you can fly together with whoever you're travelling with.
Also I only had to wait 15 minutes at Tokyo airport before going through customs. All went so smoothly. Recommended it to all my friends and at least 4 of them have now been to Tokyo as couriers.
Please please if anyone knows the number for booking a courier flight with Virgin it would help a lot. I have looked for days now on the internet and not managed to come across anything...........I think the courier flights are done with Air Cargo Partners Travel.0 -
very interested in this...
Could you book well in advance like 3 /4 months? as i loved Japan and i would love to go back again... even if its just for a short period of time... £300 area is not bad either....0 -
Yes, you can book in advance. Call BA and they'll tell you what's available.0

Hi, Virgin Atlantic no longer offer Courier Flights via Air Cargo... and BA only do Tokyo now. I checked today and they stopped Bangkok a few months ago. I went to Tokyo in July on BA and it was pretty simple. There were no luggage on my flight to clear so I just met the Handling Agent and then waited 2 mins and then went through Customs normally. Pretty easy.0

how can you find out all the companies that do the courier service and the destinations available?0
