Courier flights

Can anyone help me with contacts for Courier flights? I was given a number for British Airways but it doesn't seem to work.

Thanks!

Yep with the advent of low cost carriers and also the rise in security (ie carrying items on a flight on behalf of someone else) they are no longer used.

They are still used. You can call BA courier service on 0870 320 0301. The destinations available are Bangkok and Tokyo.

So if you travel with no luggage you can get a free flight?

    Courier flights

Run by BA Travel Shops these are the cheap flights some airlines offer passengers who want to be a courier for the journey out and back. Basically you are asked to take a vetted package onto the plane with you, the stewardess then takes it and sticks it in the plane's safe. As you get off she gives it to you...and then you hand it to someone on the other side. It is usually paper documents. Easy work and the beauty is that you get flights at a dirt cheap rate. The only thing you need to do is dress smartly. The downside is that you have to come back usually within 2 weeks, there is usually only one seat per flight for this and the flights are issued randomly. A few of us have done this before and can highly recommend them. Ideal for those who have no major set timescales.

Watch out! One of Tom's boring travel tales coming...

"I took a courier flight to go to the wedding of someone I met when I was travelling out in Canada. I had heard about them through a mate, but neither he nor his mate knew anything about them - one of these grapevine things you hear about that you would love to do, but don't know where to find them [the reason we have created this section for you guys - so Tom can tell you all his boring stories, but at least you can get something out of them! - Ed]. I finally found the number, called it and got a return flight to Montreal for under £200. Complete bargain!

So, what's the catch I thought? Actually...no catch! Loads of companies want to get documents to their business partners around the world the fastest possible way. This is it. You are asked to be smart, pick up the package as described above...and then you give it to someone at the other side. In return for this work, you get a dirt cheap flight. I would recommend everyone to check this out - saved me loads of cash at the time. As for the wedding...that's a whole different story! [Thank God for that! - Ed]"

This is correct, the information is confirmed on BA's website.

The flights are not free, though they are heavily discounted (whatever that means!).

:A Thank you so much for the BA phone number - I got the flights for a staggering £400 cheaper than Virgin Atlantic who were the cheapest I could find for date I needed.

I cannot tell you how grateful I am!
