Your statutory rights don't allow you to an exchange or refund unless goods are faulty, so what rights do you think were taken away? Shops that refund purely on a change of mind are doing so as a gesture of goodwill, not because they have to anyway.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. In both my local stores, they gave every receipt out in a card explaining the changes, and also told each customer about the changes.
They gave at least a fornight's notice of this.0 -

And even if the goods are faulty most places now ask for "proof of purchase" now. That can be reciept or bank statement. I have sucessfully had stores accept my bank statement as POP for a refund before, even if the cost of the item was mixed in with a bigger shop i.e not itemised. I guess it's about proving you have spent the money in the shop.
But this won't help with non faulty goods. Stores offer refunds on non faulty items as a good will gesture, not as a right. And most places don't refund on underwear at all!Good Enough Club member number 27(2) AND I got me a stalkee!

I'm annoyed with TK Maxx that you have to return things within 14 days now. I realise they don't have to return at all, blah blah, but 14 days is stretching it a bit sometimes to remember to take stuff back.
Having said that I was in there the other day and they gave a woman a refund on some trainers she bought before Christmas which had clearly been worn for months, as they were in a right state - she claimed she had only worn them "a couple of times" - yeah right!0 -

You bought those two items without trying them on?
Why did you expect them to fit without trying them, you couldn't have picked two worse items.0 -
I didn't know their policy had been changed. I bought a pair of jeans from there last week. They were quite clearly labelled as 14 - tried them on and they were more like a 16. Took them back, no receipt and they gave me my money back straightaway. It did have their tag still on though, maybe that's why?0

I am sure they will cover themselves by having a sign displayed by the till.0

Our local one had been quite explicitly explaining to all the customers about the impending changes (which have now happened). They probably had to change it because of too many people "taking advantage". Have to say if you're buying clothes for yourself and return them because they don't fit I'm not sure how that's T K Maxx's fault. I haven't seen one yet that didn't have changing rooms. And specifically for the OP, as mentioned your statutory rights only cover you for legitimate reasons to return (i.e. faulty) and you need proof of purchase."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

what ever happened to customer service, can anyone imagine what would happen if all stores adopted this no returns policy,we would have to keep every receipt we get, no one is perfect we do lose things.0
