I read that as minus 1, and thought "you'll be lucky": we've had minus 6 and we're in one of the warmer unsnowy areas! looks like I'll be housebound again at the end of the week, I'm not allowed out if it's slippery underfoot. :(

Still working full time & OH wouldn't agree to go out to Almeria for New Year - hope it's freezing and he's really miserable. Curmudgeonly old git :rotfl:

Hope you enjoyed it - whereabouts in Almeria are you - we're inland from Mojacar.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

as we have a fairly large Almeria contingent on here you may be able to help(longshot)

Sadly a long term resident in Mojacar Mr David Ronald Higgs passed away a couple of weeks ago and the authoroties are trying to contact his next of kin. It is thought he has a wfie(poss ex) and a son

If anyone knows of their whereabouts could you please PM me
    I  MOJACAR
  • Hi Hartcjhart

Strange story about David Ronald Higgs. I subscribe to lots of geneology sites and checked on Ancestry but there are too many of the same name. Have you any more info. Place of Birth, age, wife's name etc....however minor it could help. Was he registered anyplace that would require his personal details. House contract etc etc. What about his passport? Any shred of info could help. Surely he must have had pension/income papers.

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton
  • Hi there SDW. Yes I have been off the radar for a while. Had a busy Spring and Summer and lots of guests too. Spent a lot of time on another MSE thread supporting a chap called Mike who had been duped out of £30,000 during his house renovation. Bottom line is that BBC ~DIY SOS took up his case and in June they rebuilt his house. The forum members who supported him became "Mike's Mob" and eight of us went down to Littlehampton at the invitation of the BBC to help out and be part of the programme. We were there for nearly a week and had an absolute ball and we are all still friends. Programme goes out on BBC1 on December 30th at 8pm. Can you get BBC on your mountain?

No I don't know where Droopsnout is? I owe him a long email. He could be in England for Christmas or on his way. If he is 'en 'route' I don't envy him his journey. Last year was the same. He will be in touch when we sees we are looking for him. He has magical powers that man!!
