    Don't mention it.

And I hope that Mr s-d-w is having a great birthday!

  • Yes he has had a nice birthday although we celebrated it yesterday by going for a FULL ENGLISH BREAKFAST (a huge treat for us). The weather has been good today; warm and sunny so he has been repotting his plants all afternoon.

    Thanks for asking!

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton

Long drives are not to everyone's taste!

I've never driven over the Pyrenees, but skirted round them. I have driven through the mountains a bit on the French side, and through to Andorra, but I find them much less attractive than the Alps.

Our next breaks will be in February at Grimaud and then in May at Noja. Both cheapie bargains ...

We have driven over the Pyrenees once. They are beautiful on both sides, but as you go over the summit is is like flicking a switch, suddenly everything changes.

Wild and natural on the Spanish side, very beautiful and tamed on the French side. But pretty stunning on both sides!

yes truly is sad news I really like the boat and route, luxury cabins and Langans restaurant,so for me it will have to be plymouth/santander,luckilly for me cost is not a problem but a little luxury is paramount.

    anyone been on that route?
    I  MOJACAR
  • Portsmouth -Santander for us. I've not used it before.

We could never afford the luxury cabins and Langan's Brasserie! (The self-service food hall for us, when we were not eating food we'd brought with us!)

Got upgraded to a luxury cabin once though, and boy, was it luxurious! Also we like the Posh Bar and the Cinema.

I am fostering a little dog called Dylan. There is a huge problem with strays here in North Cyprus and my friend tries her best to help unwanted dogs. I can only help when I am here, so thought fostering was the best option. It gives Liz a bit of respite with one dog, and me the motivation to get out and walk which is helping my weight loss prgramme.

  • Oooh....be careful Sloan! We have a similar problem here with stray and abandoned dogs....and I know one person who started off with 'one little dog' and now has about ten!

We have found you just have to shut your eyes to them, because you can't help all of them, distressing though it is.
