Have you just got another "medal", s-d-w? If so, congrats!
Yes, I take your point about the stress caused by a simple misunderstanding when your husband was asked to attend hospital.
The important thing is that you are happy and comfortable. Speaking of which, and thinking of your peace of mind, have you got someone keeping an eye on your house in Spain?
As a matter of interest, will they ask you to prove your UK residency, and if so, how can you do that? Copies of ferry tickets?Much of the social history of the Western world over the past three decades has involved replacing what worked with what sounded good. - Thomas Sowell, "Is Reality Optional?", 19930 -
Medal???
The house in Spain is fine and two people (one English and one Spanish) have got keys for it, but there is virtually no crime in our village and it is quite safe to lock it up and leave it.
Barbara goes round once a week to make sure the house is OK, but the gas bottles and electricity are turned off, so should be, and Carmela waters our outside plants when she does her own.
The village polices itself anyway as everybody is related to everyone else  , and they would not let anyone do anything to our house. We have no land so do not have that to worry about!(AKA HRH_MUngo)

No-one has asked me to prove my residency, (apparently it's only if you need to claim State Benefits that they do that), but if they did I could, not only with ferry tickets, but the day after we arrived we both had a dental appointment (private dentist whom we've always had, all the time we've been in Spain) and the following week I opened a bank account in person - all of which can be checked if necessary.
If my husband decides to become resident, as well as the dentist's appointment, he took out a three-month subscription to a gym, so he has proof too.
(Edited to add: - just remembered, I've also renewed my passport since I've been here too).(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Good afternoon friends
Well it has been a little manic at DG towers recently helping a certain "old man" celebrate his 60th. We managed to make it a 4 day event, running a caravan rally as marshalls. A very good time was had, and he had several "surprises" as friends from over the years, just kept appearing at BBQ time on his birthday and the Saturday, of which he had no prior knowledge that they had been invited, some from near and some from far, including our own son who he thought would be there on Saturday, but was actually there for the Thursday BBQ with his GF.
The weather held relatively well, Thursday being a glorious day where he could siti n the sun, while I ran around organising everything, :rotfl:.
So sorry to hear you need an op 7DW though to be honest, language barrier or not, I know where I'd rather have the op, and probably have the least wait.
Over 10,000 posts, blimey, only a quarter way to that. :rotfl:

Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -
seven-day-weekend wrote: »Once I get a date to see the specialist, then if I remember rightly from the British NHS, I will have to wait several months and should be able to spend the winter months in Spain. As long as I am in the UK longer than six months in a year (and it's three already) I can maintain my UK residencey and therefore my entitlement to NHS treatment.
I have my date to see the specialist - it is 22nd September! These days you have a choice of hospitals where you can have your treatment and on the list I was shown there was a Nuffield private hospital. So I said to the Dr's receptionist 'can I go there?' and although she did try to persuade me to go to New Cross (the main hospital for these parts), I stuck to my guns and I have an appointment at the Nuffield. A friend of mine recently had a knee replacement on the NHS at a private hospital, she had told me to stick to my guns if there was that choice, so I have.
So I should soon know when I can have my treatment and then I can go to Spain for a couple of months.
Would like to see some blue sky now - it is distinctly autumnal here.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Thank you all for your pm, it's worked out really well and the Nuffield is actually my closest hospital, within about twenty-five minutes walk or five minutes in the car. It's also in a green leafy suburb instead of one of the less salubrious parts of town like New Cross is.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Another one here feeling the autumnal weather, and I am looking at returning towards the end of September, we have another 'van outing booked for next weekend, and then I want to see DS starting his new job in London on the 21st, and will be off.
