Yes, seriously, d-g, I hope this latest bit of nonsense is short-lived. It's really not a lot of fun parked up for hours on the dockside.

It seems so bizarre that these fishermen want to catch more fish, thus reducing the potential for future catches. Or am I missing something?

    Different strokes ...

People still ask why we left the UK for France. There are lots of reasons, but here's an example of a difference in philosophy.

Compare the attitudes to internet privacy:

OK, they're not over quite the same issue, and neither story is finished yet, but despite the increasing number of cameras on the street corners and traffic lights in France, there's still a long way to go before Big Brother is as powerful in France as he is in the UK.

    Vive la liberte!

Don't worry folk, I will check at Verdun, and if necessary have an extended jolly in France. Sure it will be clear before Monday evening though.

Dieppe is a very pleasant little seaside town. The port is small - only one ferry in at a time, IIRC. LD Lines operate from there, but I heard a lady being interviewed earlier on Five Live. She was saying that her ferry company had rerouted a ferry so that it sailed from Dieppe - but I suspect that she really meant that they had been given a ticket for an alternative route by LD Lines. She said that Dieppe port was very busy.

She also reported that the fishermen were burning tyres on the approach road to Boulogne port.

Norfolk Line have reported that they have no idea when the blockade might be lifted. P&O are saying that they will be having a meeting tomorrow (it didn't say who with!) to discuss possible solutions. One French union is saying that it will blockade Eurotunnel and Eurostar tomorrow.

  • Dieppe is lovely and indeed is our preferred route if we come over from France as we have friends in Seaford (next to Newhaven, which is where the Dieppe ferry docks in England).

If we come back via France this summer we will probably do Newhaven-Dieppe.

Of course we did our regular transfer last wekk and got 1.06. I think we should sell the information on when we are going to do a transfer because as soon as we do it the rate goes up. Others could make a fortune out of it.

 Don't know what you are all so happy about? My Dutch pension will now start to go down again.

Can't you just celebrate in private?

Oh dear, swings and roundabouts. Sun in out today, warm as toast and I am happy so I will forgive you.
