    Oh memories

My Dad's sister lived at Middlesbrough, and we used to take my grandparents up to stay with her for a week/fortnight from time to time, we we there via the A1 and returned by the coast, from Redcar to Scarborough, calling in a different places, and then reversing the trip when we fetched them home. DH and I would often do that trip and go over the moors whenever we had enough money to put the petrol in the car.

Spring Bank week this year is being spend in the 'van at Scarborough and Malton, and we had already said we would re-do this trip.

Luckily our extended stay out here only cut the trip to Kings Lynn for Easter, and we will work out how to fit some time down there for family history research during the summer somehow.

Enjoy the good weather, we have the rain, all day yesterday heavily and forecast light rain today and tomorrow.

    Hello Sloan,
Good luck with the retirement in Cyprus. Is it correct that if you become resident income tax is only 5%!!!!!
I live in Luxembourg with my wife and youngest (17 years) daughter. We have had a tiny house in the South of France for 18 years.
I am just back from a trip there, beautiful weather, sunny all day but cold at night. As it is in a tourist area it is amazing the difference between the mad, overcrowding in July and August and the deathly quiet of winter. I am a Towny born in Leicester and lived in North London (N20) but would prefer to be there in the "shoulder" season.

    Fuel prices in France
    Motorway 95 Octane -- €1.22. 97 Octane --1.24. Diesel €1.06
However at my nearby Elf station in Les Issambres 10 cents (yes 10 cents) below these prices.
AND at the petrol station at Saint Tropez 10 cents more!!!

While travelling through France we always come off the motorway and find a supermarket for buying fuel, and also wait until we cross into Spain and/or fill up before leaving Spain, being Yorkshire I'm Tight!;)

Rainy spells still forecast for tomorrow, so we will carry on with the chores, I cleared the ironing mountain and DH clearing grout left in a patterned border in the downstairs bathroom.

Showing colder here tonight than in the UK!

Quite right, d-g!! And Andorra is even cheaper, if you want to go to that God-forsaken place. (I'm sure some of it must be beautiful, but I've not yet found it!)

Local price for diesel here last time I tanked up: 91.9 cents.

Weather here has been gorgeous today, and I've spent the afternoon in my tee-shirt, digging a strawberry bed. Again. :( 17 degrees outside right now, but my weather machine is predicting rain!!

I have to admit that in our opinion, Easter is the worst for weather in Spain, before we finished work we used to come out for it and found it colder and wetter than Xmas, or maybe just our bad luck. It didn't seem to matter whether it was early or late.

Glad you are all lovers of Redcar and Saltburn etc. Did you know the film Atonement was filmed on Redcar Beach.

Hotel half way down Saltburn bank would be the Phillimore? (SP) or some such. It's been such a long time.

I think we should all organise a get together up there whenever - sounds like fun. Fish and Chip get together in the Magpie in Whitby is my idea of heaven.
