Hi Donny-gal - I would have to have BB because I work from home freelance writing, so my computer is on from early in the morning until late in the evenings! Fortunately, I can do my work from anywhere in the world that has internet access. Our nearest town, Parthenay, is meant to be the 'digital town' http://www.etw.org/2003/case_studies/reg_dev_parthenay.htm - so I'm hoping for an excellent service!

Kathy, have you studied the different broadband offerings, or done a comparison using one of the sites that review the different packages?

Cannot find a thread which deals with this so I thought I would ask on here. How long does it take for a wire transfer (non priority) to be credited to a UK account? The funds are coming from the USA. I mentioned on here the other day that we have sold up in Florida.

Sorry, Mrs P. I've no experience of this.

Hi Droopsnout (I can't get over your name!) - I haven't done a comparison yet. I'll have a look and see what I can find out. Thanks

Well, I was worried about getting all the furniture into a 7.5 ton truck and now DH has come back from his sister's (he only went to collect some baby items she has given to us for DS2 and DIL's baby due in August) and he's come back with three items of pine furniture that will match the stuff we already have. We'll need a bigger truck now, I'm sure!

Hope everyone is having a great evening!

I would allow up to 5 days before chasing. US wire transfers are a pain.
    Trying to keep it simple...;)

If wire transfer is the same as a, paid for, Telegraphic Transfer allow 3 days. This should cost about $35-$50. However the biggest delays are usually with the people actioning the paper work. Is it US$ to a US$ account in the UK?
Why not ask your UK bank.
Do let us know how long it takes when you have the money.
There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.

It is US Dollar account to UK Sterling account. The rate was 1.4109 (preferred rate). The US bank charged us $50. I phoned Barclay's and they said 5 to 8 working days if not sent by priority. It was sent on Monday 2nd so I will let you know when it gets credited.

Just been informed from the horse's mouth on another forum that there are now DWP representatives in the following British Consulates in Spain:

    Barcelona
    Girona
    Tarragona
    Alicante
    Malaga

These are the ones that have been mentioned, (either on the forum or in a pm to myself) but I'm sure there are others.

This is what the representative wrote on the forum:

    Hello everyone

I am posting on here as part of the new DWP team in Spain. We run a general information service of Expats about their rights to pensions, benefits and healthcare. A lot of good stuff can be found here:

but...I'm also happy to answer any questions you have.

FYI - the British Consulate in Barcelona is holding two open days next week in Girona (10th) and Tarragona (11th). You have to register beforehand to attend and the link to do this can be found here:

    Regards

    Hope this helps.

Hi thought I would pick everyones brains as I know you are all in the know about these things.
How is the fee calculated when changing the deeds on a house.
My mil left her house in spain to her daughter(who lives in spain) with the provisio of splitting the proceeds with the other 3 siblings, this was to keep tax to a minimum.
The house is worth £150,000 and sis now saying she needs £10,000 for the notary.
    any advice welcome.
Also any legal websites we can keep up to date with the selling process as we have no idea how all this works.
    Thanks everyone
