Living abroad tips and hints for money savers

!I agree that old is not something I consider for DH or me.
I thought you were SKI-ing? Having watched our parents scrimp and save for their "old age" only to find when they really got old they did not need as much anyway, ours didn't but some end up spending all their saving and house on old age care. We know that when 2014 comes we will be fine, government permitting.
We also have no desire to lose the UK base, but atm think that we should be OK, but will not have a massive savings pot when we get to our late 70's if we get there! (not that we really have now).

We are SKI-ing DG- within reason . I said our savings were not for living on (i.e. paying bills and buying groceries). However, a nice weekend break or a new motorbike is not using them to live on.:rotfl::rotfl:
Although even the new motorbike will have to wait at the moment, and SKI-ing is curtailed.
Droopsnout, I arranged to transfer some money two days ago when it was £1.115 and they have just rung to say they haven't done it due to THEIR mistake!!!! I hope I get that rate and not today's - never thought to ask!(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -
Looks like it is back to 1.095 atm.
It is how you look at it 7DW, stopping working early is to me a Ski-Ing decision.

I'm taking my figures from https://www.xe.com, d-g, where it's currently showing:
1 GBP = 1.07705 EUR
1 EUR = 0.928464 GBP
So it's fallen another half-cent(ime).
S-d-w, what can one say???Much of the social history of the Western world over the past three decades has involved replacing what worked with what sounded good. - Thomas Sowell, "Is Reality Optional?", 19930 -
