It varies from university to university and department to department but it might be worth asking if there is any marking work available - at my university you are paid academic rates so the money is very good and you can do it in the evenings at home. You could also consider invigilating at exam time if you don't mind being bored!
:shhh: There's somewhere you can go and get books to read... for free!

You could also see if they have any jobs going at your uni library. Quite a few students did this at my uni & they are flexible too because they know you have lectures etc. [Good chance also to hide the books you need before everyone else gets them :p] No I never hid any books!!!:o

Or the student bar/canteen, there are quite a few jobs floating around Uni campuses, but they do fill up pretty quickly every year, and of course some get in in their first year and stay till the end.

Also, if you was looking for some full time work at the end of the year, try the offices during the clearing weeks, they always bring in plenty of students to man the phones.

The best job I had was working weekends at M&S as permanent staff. They do evening shifts (depending on the area), but I just worked the whole Saturday.

After 13 weeks, you get a staff discount card, 20% off anything, up to a max of £1000 per year. Mum loved it :o Was good for buying clothes, when I needed them, especially in the sale.

The best bit though, is the waste shop. You can buy food at 50% and 75% off immediately. Kept me fed throughout uni.

Not sure what other supermarkets do, but this type of job is well worth thinking about.

Leave the bar jobs well alone!
    Good, clean fun.... :D
