dodgey electrics??? help!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello all...........in the process of refurbing the house

PROBLEM........WHEN I TURN MY SHOWER ON THE SPOTLIGHTS IN THE BATHROOM GO SLIGHTLY DIMMER AND IT FEELS LIKE THERE IS A MINI POWER SURGE and WHEN I TURN THE SHOWER OFF THE LIGHTS GO SLIGHTLY BRIGHTER.

Small print...........
The shower is on its seperate fuse and has 10mm cable
All house has had rewire
spotlights are suited for bath and are in a loop system in the bathroom. they are gu10 50watt bulbs 8 in total.

    Is there a power drop anywhere else in the house when you turn the shower on?

    This does happen.
    It may point to a problem with your supply- it may be aincient. If that is the case the guy doing the rewire should have noticed that- he shouldn't have if he wired a 10kW shower to it if the supply is pants

    It could be overhead and you are at the end of the line.

    Better to get it checked.

    The fan in our bathroom is a different pitch when the electric shower is on... a bit lower lol, then goes up again when showed goes off.

    Ah it all becomes clear.

    I thought it was one of these things , but it may acually be a sub main issue.
    the average diy person wouldn't know to check if the incoming supply is satisfactory.

    cant check at the mo when im by myself as i cant turn the shower on and see other lights.....will confirm when i can get someone to help me.

    it is an old bungalow and I dont think the electrician did any checks???

    thanks ..........the wiring for the lights was done by myself.....I modified the original one bulb to 8 spotlights.
    but the rewire was done by a qualified sparky
