Cellhire - temporary contract abroad?
Thinking about roaming charges in France and am fairly sure I will get a local SIM when I go. Since French SIMs "expire" after a while without top-up, this company seems to rent the SIM and then invoice at the same PAYG rate as you would get buying a SIM in a local shop?
Anyone had any experience of https://www.cellhire.co.uk ?
Thanks

I had not heard of it. It looks an interesting idea to begin with, but when you look closer the rental is £5 per week or £15 per month; also a collection and delivery charge £12. This means you will pay a minimum of £17, then all the call charges on top.
Contrast that with buying a SIM card when you get there, on which the difference between the price and the amount of included calls is almost certainly less than £17; certainly it is for French SIMs anyway.
If I was going there soon I'd be interested in the SIM of the mvno Breizh, that a friend told me about. It roams on Orange and works throughout France. Longer life, and with a special offer of extra credit, that gives €15 calls for €15 credit.

I have had a look at the Breizh Mobile site and from what I can translate it looks quite good. It does seem though that the best offer is 1) Internet only & 2) either they will only post with France or your c/card has to be French (or both). There doesn't seem to be a way round this?? Even if you have an address in France you may fail on the account address. Any cunning linguists out there who can read the small print, please??
Otherwise it seem that you have to get whatever deal their shops offer (and so long as you go to that part of France - where the calls seem to be cheaper also)0 -
Sorry - forgot to come back to you! OH asked how many times a year do you go to France? He suggested you look at https://www.0044.co.uk if you go a few times a year (he goes 3 times a year for a couple of weeks at a time) for a French PAYG SIM.Owned by [STRIKE]4[/STRIKE] 4 cats: 2 x Maine coon cross males, 1 x Pixie Bob male and[STRIKE] 2[/STRIKE] 1 x Norwegian Forest male....cute!
