I have downloaded and installed service pack 2. No problems, computer has not died.
I was downloading this because my iPod software updated and neede a newer version of iTunes. When I tried to instal this version of iTunes the system told me I needed service pack 2 to be able to run it.
All done, but my iPod still does not appear in the source list when I plug it in.
I think I now need to upgrade to USB2 as my machine is still on USB1.
What do you guys think? Could this work?0 -
You cannot upgrade a "USB1" to "USB2". Its a hardware issue. Buy a card or dont worry about it.0

Yes, that is what I meant.
I will have to buy a new card and install it. Do you think that will sort the iPod problem?

If you didn't have service pack 2 installed it sounds as though you didn't have auto-updates turned on. If so, I'd recommend turning it on so that any updates are added as they are released.I have no signature.0 -
I have tried all the usb ports and it is the same in all of them.
I just get a message stating that'This USB device can perform faster if you connect it to a USB2 port'.
It does not start iTunes or show up in the source list.0 -
Auto updates is now turned on. Cheers!0

I think USB drivers were added in either service pack 1 or service pack two (but I think it was 1). If your motherboard supports USB 2.0 on its ports, you might need to 'delete' the current USB devices so that Windows will reinstall them with the USB 2.0 drivers.
Do you know what motherboard you have?I have no signature.0 -
I have no idea what motherboard I have.
Where do I look to get this information?0 -
I have purchased a USB 2.0 card and installed it but I cannot get it to work as my PC does not have the driver.
I am running windows xp service pack 2 which does not seem to support USB 2.0
Help, does anyone know how I can get this to work.
In words of one syllable please coz I am thick!!0
