It seems to me that the girl has more of a phobia of meat than anything. She didn't seem to be vegetarian for health or ethical reasons just that she didn't like the blood or raw meat?

Would that be the late, great Warren Zevon, God rest his soul?

    Why yes, yes I am. :D :j

    What gave that away? :D

:D I love Warren Zevon. I am making sure he gets played at my wedding in a few months' time...

Anyway, back on topic  ...

boredofbeingathome, I also think he's inspirational. We're growing veggies in our really tiny garden right now and a lot of that is down to things we've seen on his programmes. I go out every morning and have a little look at what progress the veggies are making.

I would love to do what HFW has done and have a smallholding in Dorset (one of my favourite places in the country), run a business from your own produce. I've no doubt it's hard work, but how rewarding.

hello hugh fans, did anyone besides me and oh think that the lambs breast stuffed with cous cous looked scrumy, well today i was at local farm shop and asked the butcher if he had any lambs breast as hugh said its hard to get but my butcher said yes.! its on the bone still so will have to use my own butchering skills but it was only £1.60!!! bargain and im sure bones will make nice stew stock, bought 2! and i bought a pack of 2 pork hocks, not tried them before but butcher said nice boiled and at £1.50 for 2 got to be worth a try.

breast of lamb is delicious - you paid about the right amount for it too - we get it from the famrers market for £1.50 at a time - that's boned out too so you'll have the advantage of still having the bones for stock! Just take your time with the boning. You want a good sharp thin-bladed knife - ideally with a bit of flex in the blade, then just keep the blade parallel with the bones and cut in a small amount at a time. Pork hocks too - excellent cooked slowly with lots of pulses. Probably worth giving them an overnight soak first as they can sometimes be very salty.

  • I buy breast of lamb already boned and rolled from my butcher. Unroll it spread the stuffing over the lamb and then roll it up and tie it up again. I cook it slowly in the oven for about 3 hours so the fat melts and the meat is tender.

Umm - I was worried the HFW didnt check they had suitable facilities ie-mains water before sugesting livestock!

As for breast of lamb my favirite. It did look yummy. We always ensure we het them with the bones as most butchers dont do a good job on prep of this joint. The dogs just love the bones.
