@mrbadexample, are you a Warren Zevon fan?

Would that be the late, great Warren Zevon, God rest his soul?

    Why yes, yes I am. :D :j

    What gave that away? :D

Hurrah - remembered to Sky+ it from tonights repeat and have just watched. Excellent stuff. Huge Kudos to the veggie lady doing his butchers assistant thing. She's clearly not a veggie because it's trendy, she's genuinely scared of meat and wants to overcome this.

We put our tomato plants into the growbag earlier on (still got a gardeners delight and an Ailsa Craig to plant up into deep pots - we'll do those in the week sometime.) and sowed some runner beans to grow up the conifer tree - well, we hate the wretched thing but it might as well earn its keep!

Looking forward to the rest of the series, it should also get the free range chicken campaign back in the eye-line again.

  • I love his show. We have watched all of the previous ones, and i can't wait to see what else he gets up to. I too only buy organic or free range for nearly all of my meat, and defo the chicken.

What an inspirational influence he has been on my family. If he can motivate teenagers, who ask for a visit to his place for 18th birthday, then it can only be a good thing.

Penelope Penguin - You will have to keep your chickens away from your asparagus bed. My girls demolished my second year bed and we haven't had any stems to eat. We now have a fence up round the veg plot much to the hens disgust and hope to nurse the plants through till next year.

    What did we all think?

I'm not surprised she didn't like the cooked neck - very 'meaty' tasting if that makes any sense. She needs to ease herself in gently.

I'm not a veggie, but I don't like anything that just tastes of meat, so I know what she meant.

She has been a veggie for a while, but still prepares meat for her fiance.

She has decided that she wants to be back to eating meat for her wedding, so she can join with the rest of her friends and family, as it sounds like she is from a very meat-centered background/culture.

I saw this tonight and it looked really interesting. I'd love to have a go at the home-brew dandelion and burdock, I wonder if it tastes anything like the stuff you get in tins? Sadly I live in SE London so I wouldn't fancy brewing anything that I could pick round here lol :)
