Help! Outlook Express not working

    dont see why not worth a go, you can also uninstall/reinstall Outlook express just make sure you backup everything first just in case!

    Will it do this even though my Outlook won't open?
    Yes, I had done this for a colleuge at work as he had a similar issue, the settings and message files are seperate from the executable application.
    Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.

    If you search for *.dbx you will find the directory on your system where all of the files are stored e.g. inbox.dbx etc. If you save all of these files, they can be imported into another email program.

    Yes you are correct they can, but Thunderbird does this automatically for you, just thought it would be easier for the OP.

    I was desparate and I used your help to back up all the dbx files onto CD-rom :beer:

    all you should need to do is highlight the message(s) and press "m"
    That toggles between "read" and "Not read"
