Just back from Hemsby Pontins - had a lovely time. We had no kiddies with us but the ones there were having a great time. What a great freebie. The chalets are very tired looking and could do with re-furbishing, but hey, its was free.

No 3 is the yellow tourist bus that stops right outside Pontins gate and goes to Great Yarmouth via Caister. No.1A stops further down the road by the Post Office on the main road and goes directly to Great Yarmouth. Its cheaper to buy a day ticket at £4 or its £3 each journey. Unfortunately the ticket is not valid on the Yarmouth to Norwich bus. If driving from Hemsby to Norwich the Park and Ride is only £1.60 for the day covering the car and up to 5 passengers.

Chips next to the £2 shop are fab.

I did not like the time and tide museum. Firstly hate the smell of fish so that is a big off put for me.
I thought it was well done, but I just did not find it intersting really.
It does show why the fishing industry is in decline.

In the hey day of fishing off Yarmouth something like 100-200 boats (cant remember the numbers) went out to catch fish and the first one back to shore got the best price for the fish and after that the value went down. A lot of them we just sold off for pet food or dumped. And they wonder why there are no fish left!

Just off that subject a little read some thing about bass fish in a newspaper. Saying that the stocks were very low. Apparently they are allowed to keep fish over 35cms, but they done start to reproduce until they reach about 47cms....... Now how stupid is that?
