Orange Increase Intl Text Charging.

Just had a good look at my latest Orange Bill .I noticed that that are going to increase the cost of Intl Texting from 15p to 19p a text from the beginning of OCT 2005.

BT Mobile is 17p so it's being leapfrogged! Are international text messages included in any allowance? They're not with BT Mobile.

Maybe they're making up for the loss of international call revenue by Simply Fone?

Or perhaps they are betting on Simply Fone users to text more as their calls are now (effectively) free/low cost.

Are Orange having money problems or are they just taking the p***?

On another note. 19p is an outrage - In this competitive marketplace, I expect prices to go down, not up.
  • I was paying 40p a text from Majorca on Orange PAYG. :(

Ahh, PAYG is in a totally different league of pricing - that's just unholy!

Edit: just noticed you said "from Majorca" - roaming prices are always very high :(

You could always tell orange you want to leave as it is an increase that is more than the cost of inflation, an easy way to get out of your contract. In their T&C's it says that they will not increase prices by more than inflation.
I did exactly this last year when they banded their text prices from abroad, some prices doubled over night.
