Orange security code?

I've bought an Orange PAYG phone from Phones4U. I went to register it online, so I can top-up, and their website says that I need to enter my 4-digit security code. I've no idea what this is as it's not given anywhere in the documentation I got with the phone. Unfortunately I can't call Orange or Phones4U as I have currently lost my voice (honest!).

Does anyone know what this 4-digit security code would be set to by default? The phone is a Sony Ericsson K550i.
Eh?? I give up!! Towel is getting thrown in here! :D

As far as i remember(when i registered my orange phone) you must call customer services to register to be able to top up online. The 4 digit security code is set up at the time of calling.

I am pretty sure there is no default code as such.

Have you got the right link to register? I think you should key in your mobile number and just follow the steps to create an account where you'd get to a point where you give your credit card details and that would be your nominated card and each time you key in just the last 4 digits of your card. I'm not entirely certain because I'm on a pay monthly contract. If you still can't get through would you tell me which link you're using to register and I'll check with orange and get back to you.

The code is set up when you register the phone. The system will tell you your phone number and your security code.
If you haven't got it you might have a problem as it's asked for by CS before they access your account !! I had the line drop while I was registering one a few weeks back before it told me the code and, as they won't tell you anything about the account until you clear the security check, I ended up having to throw the sim away and get a new one...

That is the link I am using. It asks for the security code on the next page.

I may have to wait till I get my voice back or get my wife to phone their call centre in India. I did phone once before, because I didn't know the number to call for voicemail (you'd think Orange might tell you that in all the glossy leaflets they send), and they were not very helpful. When I get better I'm going to get the phone unlocked and go with a cheaper company. I only bought Orange because they were offering that phone at the best price.

when registering the phone via a 3rd party dealer (eg. phones 4 u) they use an automated registration system. The ID code is then sent to the handset via text, or advised over the automated phone line. [maybe check the text message inbox, it could still be there]

If you register via the phone yourself (ie, you call the call centre to register the sim) you are required to set the ID code up yourself.

If the sim is pre-registered, the ID is in the box the phone came with.

your choice is one of the above!

If you don't have the ID code, you'll need to call CS and see if they'll give it to you. they will ask security questions before they give it out, so if the sim isn't registered correctly, you may need details such as:

    When you registered the sim
    What the SIM number is
Any top-up cards associated to the sim card.
    Recent top-up amounts etc.

to confirm you are the owner.
