I think I would be better putting the money away for the flight.

I actually have 3p in my holiday savings!!! Don't all laugh at once!

Ebaying ok, but I hate the whole process so will have to make myself do it.

Agree with ebay, thats helped me out so much in making extra money.

And deffo agree about everything in moderation. i was ummming and ahhhing over when i get my upgrade on my new mobile. I do want one, and my current phone is battered, but i was thinking i could sell it and make £100 roughly. but then i thought that it would be a nice treat for myself to get a new phone without actually paying for it upfront...:p And now im waffling...

Do you use the turbo lister?? I found this the other day and it has cut my listing time so much. I used to hate listing, but now its only 1/2 as boring! :rotfl:

I have dial up and this would probably kill it!! :rotfl:

    Right how does this sound...

After bills and spends I 'should' have about £217 left each month :T

    So:

    £217 - £50 (for cc op) = £167.00 :D

    Then if I do this:

    £160 x 5 = £800 by Dec :j

Does that look right? But it means I have to be really strict and stick to my budget

(and of course and add any other money I come across... payrises, ebay etc)

That looks fantastic Lucy. I think its great, because now you something cool and fun to look forward to.

Whereabouts in America will you be flying to? You could start looking at flights now, and then compare in the sales?

If you think you can be that strict with yourself for 5 months go for it!

Personally I know I can't be that strict consistently so I would only budget to save perhaps £120 of the excess a month to the flight (Still £600 by Xmas so enough for flight) and consider anything more than this a bonus. That's just me though

I would be staying with friends just outside Washington. I've looked at flights and non sale are about £500 (depending on day and time of travel) but I have seen them in the sale from about £350 so well worth the timing!

Problem will be sticking to the budget

I'll see how I get on. It could be tough, but if I can supliment it somehow I will be happy.

i can try it for a couple of months and see how it goes.

Does your budget already include setting money aside for Xmas and birthday spends between now and going away?
