Hope this isn't another Abbey fiasco in the making.
You would think that an institution which offers a market-leading rate would gear up for an avalanche of applications when all around are slashing rates.
I opened an ISA with Yorkshire in August & got my smile ISA transferred to them on 13th Sept. rang them up today to query why my balance still showed £nil, to be told they are 'a bit behind' and are currently processing 2nd September's mail!!!
They were unable to even tell me if they had received the cheque from smile.
NOT IMPRESSED!

The YBS E-ISA is only 4.90% anyway, I believe. Vote with your feet - I've moved ours to Halifax for 5.00%.
They're all as bad though, in one way or another.
IF have just cut their rate by 0.45% to 4.55%, and when I moved from Abbey (managed for Safeway) to IF 18 months ago, Abbey actually forgot to sign the cheque!!!!! That episode cost me two weeks interest, but I insisted on compensation and got £20 - which was twice what I'd lost.
The thing that really gets my goat though is the automated "we are experiencing high call volumes at the moment", when what they really mean is "we launched a really good product and, despite knowing it would be popular, we couldn't be bothered to put extra staff on to cope with it".0
