Vodafone Upgrade Rip Off

This is a story all potential Vodafone upgraders should be aware of!

With a month to go on our 3 x £15pm 100 mins 50 texts 18mth contract we sent off the required 30 day notice to cancel and request of PAC code.

Around a week after sending this we received numerous calls from Vodafone with the standard why are you leaving? question and an offer of deals they could do to retain our custom.

Finally on 20th May I had a little more time to listen and the outline of the conversation was as follows:

- Having covered the formalities I explained we maybe interested in staying if we could get some more mins and texts and a new phone BUT I didnt want to pay more than our existing £15 pm each.

- I was offered 150 mins and 500 texts on my daughters phone and 250 mins and 100 texts pm on the other 2

-We then discussed phones and I explained my wife and daughter liked the Samsung Soul and I liked the Nokia N95-the adviser explained he could do these on the contracts at the same £15pm.

-I then asked about internet as I was interested in this particularly on my phone but I didnt want to pay any extra. The adviser confirmed we could have this added too at no extra cost.

- I made it clear that I didnt want to pay any more than the £15pm. The adviser said that was fine but I would receive a letter at £25pm but this would be discounted by £10pm.

The phones were due for delivery today.

As I know Vodafone normally send a text on the day to confirm the order/delivery I phoned this morning and initially advised at 830am that the phones would be delivered today.

At around 1230pm I was still uneasy as I had still not recvd a text and didnt want to hang around waiting. I phoned again.

I have now been advised of the following:

1) Contract runs until 12/09 effectively 19 mths (1 mth from old contract).

2) The discount is only for 1st 15 mths then reverting to £25pm-Extra cost therefore £120 across 3 contracts.

3) The internet is only free for 1st mth and then £5pm extra-Extra cost £270 across 3 contracts.

4) No roll over on new contract and effectively loss of £15pm contract as in last 4 mths I will be on a £25pm deal. Total cost for 3 contracts £975.

4) and that the order HAD NOT BEEN PLACED and the phones would NOT be delivered today.

It is clear that the retention team have been economical with the truth in not explaining the full costs. I have been advised by Vodafone they WILL NOT agree the contracts as offered in the call (More or less saying I am lying). I said why dont you listen to the call (as they say calls are recorded) and they said the calls ARE NOT RECORDED.

It is clear that if I had not had the need to call today I would have been none the wiser. Vodafone will not let you speak to anyone from the outbound team.

I am now not sure what to do-I have until 9/6 to make a final decision and also have Voda BBand at home package.

I will now look around for other deals as the arrogance of Vodafone is amazing in such a competitive world.

They are all so keen to call you to try and retain your business but then are short on the facts oferring you a better deal than you will actually get hoping you dont notice.

Yes you have been badly treated for a loyal customer and in your position i would take my business elsewhere. Voda seem to have been getting a lot of stick on this forum recently. A Vodafone rep used to "patrol" this forum at one time and intervene to help customers but i do not know if he is still with us
