BTW what's matched betting? OH not allowed to bet anymore lol.x

Hi tigger, matched betting is where you take advantage of the free money offers that bookies give you and relies on you betting at one site and laying/betting against it at the exchange. It is fairly risk free, but its not for everyone. You can make a nice bit of money doing it. For example i am just this minute taking advantage of a £100 free bet and it wont take me long to sort it out. Every little helps as they say!

:money: OH says to let you all know we don't pay for fires either lol. We brought a bow saw for £15 from homebase, and take it to the woods every weekend. Please note I am not encouraging the felling of healthy trees, we only collect dead wood lol. It's £6 for a bag of coal from Tesco and it lasts about 3 nights. We haven't brought any for months so must've saved a packet by now lol. Also gives us a free day out as we quite enjoy our little adventures in the woods :p

A top idea you can buy a Bow Saw for about £5 to £6 if you stay out of the big DIY stores and use a local ironmongers or the like. I confess that i do exactly the same thing as yourself however i do not take my saw to the woods as this could lead people into believing that you are sawing down healthy trees or part of them and could lead to trouble:o
There is plenty of windfall on the floor just pick it up take it home and then saw it into logs. No saw no possibility of cutting what you shouldn't and no chance of being acussed of doing that either:rolleyes:

If you are after free wood, what about asking in Industrial parks if they have any unwanted pallets you could take? I know you cant take the blue ones but often we have a pile of pallets sitting outside and it would be great if someone could make some use of them.

The only thing is companies probably wouldnt appreciate you sawing them up as it makes a mess, so that maybe a problem if you dont have a big car.

When taking dead or fallen wood, make sure it's dry. Wood that's been lying on the ground in mud or leaf mulch is pointless to burn. Taking branches from a dead tree that is still standing is the best. Around autumn there are loads of dead birch trees in hedgerows, the wood burns much quicker than logs bought from a garage or elsewhere.

Hi UWW we do try and take what we can but we saw it up at the car, poor charlie is only small (peugeot 206) so we can't really fit big logs in it!!
tsharp - if you leave it out to dry its fine...some of the older more crumbly wood is great for starting the fire, but burns to quick to keep it going. Loving your sig by the way...could do with my own black panther!!
