  • Does any one know if these phones will work in South Africa?
  • I'm wondering why they have so many ' refurbished' phones for sale ?
Is it just a marketing ploy to sell them cheap without out devaluing the Panasonic brand or have they had big problems with these in the past ?

These are described as factory refurb, so the warrantee is with the manufacturer. These units are probably catalogue or shopping channel returns. The manufactures do this to get the volume sales. When people send back items under these offers the items cannot be sold as new, the boxes are sent back to the manufactures. They may have minor faults, missing parts or scratches etc as part of the review process.

The manufactures are then left with a pile of boxes and product. They sort through these returns and grade them. They sell them on to reseller like this outfit etc at a reduced cost. The items may have no warrantee from the manufacturer, and the retailer might provide some sort of cover. The best deals offer full manufacturer warrantee (like these DECT phones)

Manufacures also keep a pool of product for warrantee returns and spares, so when items are end of line they can run down these stocks.

All the new DECT phones have colour screens etc so these old models are unlikely to be in shops and so the number required for warrantee returns, spare will be reduced.

Phone companies do this a lot; you can get refurb phones cheaply.

With a name like Panasonic, and their reputation for high quality DECT phones you won’t go wrong. It is worht checking review to see if a model has a know design fault or issue. Do your homework :)

I got a Nikon CoolPix 5200 for my mother from 7 Day shop, refurb was £105 full retail £118. The unit came in a brown box, and the charger light was faulty. Return the charger to Nikon, and got a replacement today. My refurb only came with a 6 month warrantee, the camera was perfect!

Read the small print and keep the paperwork. You are covered by distance selling and credit card for on line purchases, and at this price the DECT Phones from Panasonic are a steal!

    Hope this answers your question?
    Seth.

Is it me or is £5.99 postage a bit steep?

    Edited:
Gone all the way through with ordering now and postage dropped to £3 something. Weird! Still total is £20+ and I remembered to go through quidco for cashback :):). Thanks for this op! ;)
