The number plate law is a farce. If you live close to the Scottish Border you can pop over and have a plate made up without ID.

I buy number plates all the time over the internet. I use a company in Northern Ireland. I have no wish for zany spacing or fonts - just standard British font and a bog standard plate. It's cheaper and more convenient.

it happened to me at the end of febuary,it is not wrong information,it is an account of what happened to me.
considering they had already fined me for speeding im sure they would have taken great delight in issuing another fine for my plates. they gave me a 28 day notice to change the plates and get a form stamped at an mot station and then post this off. NO FINE.

I am stating what the law currently states and that is that you will get fined.
I would recommend that if the OP wants to get replacements plates for what ever reason they use either a DVLA approved dealer online or go to there local garage, other than that give DVLA a call, they will confirm that you will be fined if they are incorrectly spaced and/or not marked "BS"

Still, itll take you less than 20mins in a car shop.
That is money saving as no postage!!!
You can get a SET of plates in Halfords for £9.95 I do believe,

With the correct spacing and BS marking:D :D

Its not a case of me not having the ID and document to get it done at a shop just the fact that I can do it online and have it delivered - some places even do free next day delivery so why not save the money and travelling was what I was getting at.

Thanks to all for the replys

last time i checked halfords this was the price for 1 plate, not 2.
the place in my link puts ont the BS mark and spaces correctly. halfords staff are useless at pretty much everything,so why should making number plates be different?

I know what you were saying however I wanted to make it clear that many places online are not approved by the DVLA and I would only use a plate that was.
