thanks i'm in a bread making mood this week so i'll try the soda bread anyway and then i may atempt the sourdough starter.
Hell i might even have a go at making some sort of bread with the sour cream i now have sat in the fridge going spare, you never know i might invent something.
I don't mind using yeast etc just like the soury taste lol is there any other breads that taste similar?0 -
aargh just realised that my sourdough which has been rising/proving all day to be baked tonight, I forgot to add salt to.
Obviously nowt I can do about it now, but is there any point in me baking it? Its the HFW recipe-calls for 10g of fine sea salt. Will it be absolutely YUCK without salt....0 -
It wont be great without salt. I would sprinkle with salt and re knead and prove and cook tomorrow-it won't be great but it should be edible.0

Not Buying it 2015!0 -
no I wouldn`t as the salt will shock it. Just mix butter with a bit of salt before spreading and it won`t be yuk at all0

I am well known to put too little salt in the bread (just ask my husband). Not intentionally, I am just afraid to put too much. I just spread butter on and sprinkle some salt on it - it is fine. It is going to be a bit worse with no salt at all, but it will be edible!Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0

My sourdough starter has been going for nearly a week :j I'll be making the sponge during the day tomorrow, and all being well, will have a loaf (or two

I am still loving making my sourdough (although my waistline isn't!) and have managed to keep my starter alive for over 2months!! I make it about once or twice a week, and feed the starter when I make it, am I asking for trouble doing this-should I be feeding every day?0

Good luck Penelope Penguin! I have my started going for about 2 months now, and I keep it in the fridge, refresh about once a week.
I love my bread, and I also got the Artisan Bread in 5 min book, and I rarely buy any bread now, just flour and make my own! Love it.Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0
