Ikea Delivery Service

Options
I have to get this off my chest - I bought several hundreds of punds worth of Ikea goods on Saturday and arranged for 15 items to be delivered, costing me £95.

They delivered on Monday afternoon. However, I was not at home so my mum was there to take delivery. They should have delivered 15 items - each clearly named on the despatch note. When I got home, there were boxes everywhere - so I thought everything was fine...until last night (Tuesday) when I decided I had better check that everything was as it should be.

I counted 14 items - including 1 mattress. 1 item was missing. I kept recounting to make sure I wasn't going mad. But 14 items it was. I figured out that:

1) Ikea had put an item on the despatch note that wasn't even requested to be delivered - a long metal midbeam for a bed. I took this home with me myself.

2) Ikea had omitted a desk chair from the despatch note which I wanted delivered. I still received this chair anyway.

3) Ikea had plain forgot to deliver a dining table which was on the despatch note.

So it makes you wonder what kind of checking they do when they deliver stuff. I think none at all because how can you deliver something which isn't even on the despatch note (the desk chair)? How can you deliver something which you don't have to be delivered (the metal midbeam)? How can you not notice that a dining table isn't part of the delivery?

I phoned their delivery company 3 times today in an attempt to sort out this mess. The 3rd time, the lady said that they hadn't recorded any information on the computer...so what the hell were they doing after the first 2 calls???

Needless to say, I won't be relying on this service anymore and I await the resolution of this. I'm moving in less than 2 weeks so something like this is very stress inducing and very very annoying. If they think I'm trying to pull a fast one for a dining table worth £40, they don't really understand much do they since I've paid God knows how much already and drove 120 miles on a round trip to do my shopping.

    Hi

This bit of info might be of help. If you have to return to the IKEA store with any items you can ask for your petrol costs, just tell them the mileage and they should re-emburse you. There was a thread about this somewhere else on the forum, but it was a while ago and likely to be buried!

Doesn't help I know with the undelivered and wrongly delivered items, but could be useful.

When the correct items arrive, the metal beam can g back on the same truck, ask CS if this is what they want done.

So you wanted the chair, had you paid for it?

Good luck sounds like you need it.

Well, I made the trip to the Croydon Ikea again as I needed to some items that I didn't manage to get last weekend. I thought it would also be an opportunity to sort out my delivery mess.

I spoke to a man called Roy at the delivery desk and he was very helpful. To cut a long story short, the dining table will be delivered free of charge along with some other large boxed items that I purchased aswell. I will in fact get 2 deliveries - one on Monday for the additional items and a second delivery on Wednesday for the dining table - both free of charge. I made sure of this as I wasn't having it any other way. So I await the goods now, just in time before I move on Friday.

Getting anything sorted over the phone was proving to be a nightmare, so I was lucky that I needed to go back for a second visit anyway for the remaining items.
