Thanks for the info. Out of interest, how come you took it back - did you change your mind?

Argos don't do the 30 day return on mp3 players anyway. Don't worry though. I took mine back and she barely glanced at the box and cheerfully asked if I wanted exchange or a refund when I said it didn't work.

I am actually more mad about a GrabitNow.com mp3 player I got a couple of weeks ago that is a pain and after finally getting it to work sort of I discovered it is 1 gb and I am pretty certain the advertised one was minimum 2gb as I already have a 2gb!!!! It was only a tenner but it really is rubbish and I could have bought loads of chocolate for that grrrrr...

I purchased the Philips one a week before the Zen came down in price. I hope I made the right choice . Screen size on the Philips is great , converting movies to .wmv files via the bundled Arcsoft software takes ages on my (t)rusty pentium 3. 2hrs to convert 30mins footage.....!!!. Any other convertors out there to use instead ?? Otherwise 8gb for £50 isn't bad. Just trying to locate a case for it now.

I'm not saying this is the best way but after struggling for a while I used media-convert.com to change my .FLV files (from YouTube) to .avi files online. You then download the new file back onto your pc and then use the Creative Explorer to do the last conversion making sure you tick the box to crop the video to the player screen size. I am really happy with the results.

Ooops this is for the Zen plus not the Philips though you can convert using that site easily enough.

It was faulty. I have a replacement and so far so good. Got it full of vids and music and photos and am going to use it as much as possible in the next few days to make sure cos if it starts freezing it's going back!!!
