Looks like AVG is being upgraded - but looking at the new spec they want you to pay if you want your emails protected.
Is AVAST a better antivirus now?
What should I do?

The free version still has free e-mail virus scanning, but not free Phising and "scam" checking of e-mails, that's only in the paid for version.
Have a read of this thread, it discusses the upgrade (to v8 free) and potential problems.0 -

Try reading the documentation for the AVG free ver 8 product here. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Well, would have kept updated about AVG but systems went down today at work and I have problems anyway with MSE connection via work internet.
I have received a message to say -
Updates for your current AVG Free will not be available after 31/5/08.
AVG 7.5 being replaced by AVG 8.0 and you will have to upgrade to stay safe.
Well that kind of negates what has gone before. Should I be doing this before the weekend? I have always liked AVG and have got the free spyware package too. Any advice most welcome.

I had alot of problems downloading the new avg 8 today on both my laptop and pc. It seems that if you try to upgrade they sometimes conflict. In the end i had to download the new one...save to the pc...uninstall the old one (off line) and install avg 8 from where i had saved it on the pc then go on line and do the updates seamed to work ok then.Happiness is not having what you want...but wanting what you have!!!0

My advice is; stick with AVG 7.5 ... AVG 8 is bloated and slow in my opinion.0
