Caviar and fine wine must cost a bit in Central London after work though or is that a barrister stereotype

It's a stereotype, but one with a lot of truth in it (not the caviar, but barristers seem to drink a lot).
However, I've never been a big drinker, just not my thing!
We do spend £400 a month or so on food, including eating out. I just don't tell myself it is in any way necessary - it's not....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

Again we all dont have the luxury of the London transport system
Those that dont live in London, i assume £200pm is quite a small amount per month for fuel costs especially with the cost of fuel today. A tank of petrol costs me about £70 to fill up and will get me max of 300 miles.
The average family car does 12,000 miles per year, so ill let you work that 1 out

It should be funded just like school is.
It would obviously cost a lot, but then the governement would save a considerable amount by not handing out benefits to stay at home parents.
The only reason most are stay at home parents is because childcare is too expensive and they're caught in a trap. You work just to pay childcare, so whats the point?
The only way around that is to make childcare free, this way parents can get back to work and then start contributing in taxation, which in turn pays for their 'free' childcare;)
The real question is what was the point having children? The real solution is that people should get no money for children, then only people who can afford to have them would do. Well, maybe it might stop the lowest scum in society having unwanted kids just to get a free house.
There are always plenty of people wanting to adopt for those who cant take responsibilty for their sex lives too.0 -
Ahh now that is where I can make a saving over you Mitchaa.....I can get 500 miles out of mine!We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

The only flaw in that arguement is if when the children were conceived, the parents were in a stable, loving relationship plus earning good money but then years down the line, the loving relationship becomes stale (or one of them gets bored with playing mummy or daddy) and it all falls apart.
When we had children, I was earning way in excess of average earnings at the time, was happily married and it was all so easily affordable....fast forward 15 years and the story is so so different all it takes is for something to go wrong in the birth process, vaccination process etc or a major illness for one of the parents. We made it! It was very funny on yesterday's BBC breakfast.
They had three "experts" as part of a series this week on saving money in tight times.
Cheap food and free children's outings were the two legitimate items.
The third was the worse sort of proprty spiv - shameless pushing his own website on how to make money from property and also suggesting that now was the time to buy since there were some real bargainst and rents were rising.
Unbelievable from the BBC since they pay these people! And a pity Bill Turnbull wasn't up to putting him on the spot. But at least the idiot wore the sort of loud, striped, brown suit that was likely to warn some people of his nature.0 -

Totally beyond the point, your taxes pay for all the ''scummy'' children to go to school. Why not childcare? In fact your taxes do pay for the majority of kids to go to childcare, directed at those that receive childcare costs in benefits in order to pay for it. If you so happen to have a decent wage then you get no help and that was my point.
The real answer to your question is.....Its the meaning of life
To reproduce
If we didn't we would become extinct pretty soon:rotfl:
You need to keep the family tree going aswell

The average family car should do an awful lot fewer miles, to start with - the number of children driven short distances to school is shocking....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0
