Wickes bathroom - should I complain?

Hi all, I'll explain as briefly as possible...
Ordered a bathroom - had to wait 28 days for delivery, which I didnt mind. Bathroom arrived, had arranged for tiler to be here the day after to rip old one out and fit new one. When he came to fit the bath, he noticed 2 fairly big scratches on it. Phoned Wickes on the same day (Sat) and was told I'd have to contact the delivery company. Their offices were closed over the weekend (!) Got through on Monday morning and was then told I'd have 2 wait until the Friday for a replacement bath...
This meant that my partner and myself had to move out of our home and pay some friends to stay with them as we had no means of washing (apart from using the kitchen sink!) We both were about 20 mins further away from work as well so it's been a real pain in the !!!!. My tiler was not happy at all - he had to jig around all his other jobs to fit me in again the week after
I've still got the old scratched bath here - they havent phoned to collect it yet!
Should I complain to Wickes that I had to wait until the Friday of that week? Not sure if it's worth it or not
- any advice appreciated, thanks!

Personally I think that if you are getting a replacement within a week that's quite reasonable. I fitted a B&Q kitchen last year and replacements for damaged/missing parts took anything from 2 - 3 weeks. I know it's annoying but stores just don't stock much now.0 -
I would write a short complain letter detailing the facts.. If it has caused you inconvenience as you suggest then it's a least worthy of a letter I would say.

I had a similar problem with a Wickes kitchen delivered a few years ago. I had to pay for extra fitters time and wait around a week for a replacement worktop to be delivered to replace a damaged in transit one. I also had to take additional time off work to be around for the fitters.
Following my letter of complaint Wickes paid for the extra day directly to the fitters and I got £200 in vouchers for my inconvenience. Seems like you have a valid cause for complaint."A nation of plenty so concerned with gain" - Isley Brothers - Harvest for the World0 -

What sort of friends are they if they take money off you when you need a helping hand !
One thing I've learned the hard way is to always check any goods you have delivered as even if they are in mint condition when leaving the warehouse, they are very often not in the same condition by the time they reach you. I once witnesed a courier who was delivering a very heavy item, packed in a large wooden crate, to work. This numpty was responsible for loading his own lorry and planning his route yet he loaded the first drop (my crate) at the back of his van, behind all the other boxes/crates and his pallet truck went on last.! It took him more than 40 minutes to get to the back of the truck and I can tell you that all the boxes in his way were given a very heavy-handed temporary exit from his van, startng with the pallet truck.
You do however, have a reason to complain and a phone call followed by a letter if necessary should sort it out. Wickes are usually quite good with handling complaints.0 -
the delivery companys are not part of the wickes company.. this i found out when i had problems with my kitchen delivery last october,,
do what i did go into the store see the person who sold you your kitchen and kick up a mighty fuss.. the manager got involved and we got it all sorted out between us because they didnt like their business being tarnished..Those we love don't go away,They walk beside us every day,Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very dear
Our thoughts are ever with you,Though you have passed away. And those who loved you dearly,
Are thinking of you today.0 -
Thanks everyone for your replies.
I'm not sure whether to go into the store or to write a letter? I've never really complained about anything before, apart from meals in restaurants!
Ideally I'd like to write a letter as I Dont think I'd be much good face 2 face but where do I start when writing a letter! Anyone got a good template?!
Thanks again. :-)0
