Hi
Since our holiday last year we have been battling against airtours to get some compensation. It was nothing life threatening but the holiday was not as advertised and i feel we really need to make a stand against things like this. We have got nowhere and now i have to decide if we are going to take it further which is goint to cost money. As far as i can see we can either go down the ABTA route or take them to the small claims court. Has anybody done anything like this with a holiday company that could offer some advice please.
Thanks
Sarah

any more details..
what wasn't as advertised, what were the issues, did you complain while on holiday? etc etc
all these points are needed to weigh up if you have a case!0 -
hi
we had a horrendous holiday with airtours a number of years ago. We did complain and asked to be moved was told no so we ended up coming home after 4 days .Wasn't getting a satisfactory response from AT so checked my home insurance and noted that we were covered for legal expenses .phoned insurance co. who asked for pictures, and all related paperwork re. holiday.
They agreed that we had a case and from that point on their solicitors dealt with airtours.Result - got £1000 of the £1400 holiday cost back.
hope this helps0 -

There's a holiday website called holidaytruths (I don't know if you've already been on there) that has a specific complaints section.
In addition, there is an expert in travel law who gives free advice to HT members. You'll find her contact details on the website.
It may be worth checking it out to see if you really do have a chance of winning if you decide to go further with this.0 -

looks like you've found the website I mentioned.0 -
We had a nightmare holiday booked with airtours, the hotel was also an escapades hotel, each night was no less than a riot. Plates being thrown over the balcony, banging on doors, the police were called on 3 out of 7 nights. One night the security guard was thrown into the pool. We complained to the rep and we were offered a move to a hotel that was only for escapade clients. I was 3 months pregant at the time and explained this in my complaint . We were offered a voucher for 100 pounds off our next airtours holiday to be used in 12 months. There was no chance of using the voucher due to my new arrival. I returtned the voucher to airtours and explained that i would tell as many people of my experience instead.
That i have done, I had more satisfaction doing this than a small payout from a large company.0
