Managed to get a hard drive on Saturday- was a bit surprised to find only the drive in the box- should there have been a manual and registration card- if not how do we register for the 3 year warranty?

If anything does go wrong with the drive, I don't think you send it back to Western Digital you just take it back to the Aldi store you bought it from, so keep your receipt.

I picked up one of these drives today.

Was surprised to see still some left.

On uthe front of the box is a helpline number 0871-711-1881, so I guess that you would send it to Tevion. However from past expieriance, when a harddrive that was covered under warranty failed. I simply returned ot to the manufactuter who I believe was Western Digital. No quibble, just a straight swap out.

    * my thanks to the OP

Just popped to my Aldi this morning and the only drive they had in the plastic case for £59 was a Gericom one which said on the box 2Mb cache. What did the box on yours say? As there was a big queue I left and am going to pop back tonight to have another look and see what they have got in the locker.

    Cheers

Cheers for that. Its quite interesting because the box I saw this morning was exactly the same except it had the brand Gericom instead of Tevion and it stated 2Mb of cache. Guess they must have different types in different stores. I'll still see whats in their locker though as they might have some of the 8Mb versions.

One of my purchased drives had bad sectors on it. Hearing Western Digital only send out refurbs in exchange, I went back to Aldi and got a refund pretty much no quibbles.

Looks as though Western Digital have some tools you can download, I haven't used these so don't know how good they are. Have a look at ...

Be sure to enter your own drives model no. so as to get the right tools listed.
