When you formatted the 250gb drive, what is the size around 232gb?

Yes, that sounds right. You never get the actual space quoted due to hard drive manufacturers using 1000k for a megabyte instead of real 1024k.

    Great

Got a couple of the 250gb hard drives today, tempted to go back tomorrow and buy a couple more :) (I want one to replace my 20gb in my main PC then a few in my server setup)
  • Got one of the HDDs today - great price - thanks to OP!

Anyone got a spare PC remote they are willing to part with for suitable remuneration?

    Yup, got a 19" TFT for £160, 2 x laptop remotes for a fiver each, and a harddisk 8-)

Saw someone come in for a camcorder, and was sure she was a money saver but was not willing to approach (dont like looking the fool, unless I'm in a bar!) But was wondering are thier any MSE badges available, nothing big, just minute that only the trainined Money saver would recognise!

Ive installed the hard drive as master drive but it shows up as 131gb only. How do i go about making it recognize it has a250gb drive?

PS: I,m using it for a 1ghz dell pc with Me O/S.

I am not sure that drives over 137 GB are recognised in ME I think you need to use XP or 2000 to partition the drive ie then ME will recognise it as two drives both of less than 137 GB.

Try asking in the techie forum to confirm this.

I had this problem too, with XP, before I loaded service pack 2 on.
Perhaps there's a service pack for ME???
    Hope this helps! :)

This should help - Me/Windows 98 have a 137GB limit but it can be overridden by partitioning the drive into, say, 2 x 125GB drives :)
  • Managed to get a hard drive on Saturday- was a bit surprised to find only the drive in the box- should there have been a manual and registration card- if not how do we register for the 3 year warranty?
