Error 1327.Invalid Drive:E:\

Options
As the title suggests I am having some problems!!
Also, the title is an EXACT copy of the error message that I am getting.

The error has come to light in two ways.

The first is when I try to update the firmware of my nokia phone.
I have been using the nokia pc suite to update my firmware, and after I have connected my phone to my pc, the pc suite said that before I could go any further, it needed to update itself. It did update but when it came to install I get the above message.

This morning I thought I would uninstall my nokia pc suite and nokia software updater from my system and re install them from the nokia website.

I uninstalled the nokia pc suite successfully and then re booted my pc.

I then tried to un install the nokia softaware updater and I immediately got the above message. I therefore cannot un install this nokia application.

In order to help you I have never, at least to my knowledge, re named a drive.
The only 'drives' on my system are my main 'c' drive and my dvd/cd rw drive which shows as drive 'd'. There is nothing else attached to my pc, not even the phone!

I have googled the error and was given lots of options to have my registry scanned and repaired, which, incidently, I declined.

I am running Windows XP Home edition

Help please

Leo

    That was a wise move e: )

Some phones memory cards are registered as extra drives when connected to a pc, taking the next available drive letter-E:
Is it possible when you downloaded this nokia suite you have accidentally installed to this drive.
If so it may be possible to run the uninstall routine with the phone attached, give it a go, but i suspect it may not
Best advice see if your system created a restore point prior to the nokia installation and "go back" to that
Start button/programs/accessories/system tools/system restore- click oon a date and the restore points will appear in l/h window

Hi, I've had this before and sorted it by going to the command prompt and typing the following command which will tell the uninstall routine to look for drive C instead of drive E: subst E: C:\

    Debt at highest: £6,290.72 (14.2.1999)
Debt free success date: 14.8.2006 :j

Thanks for that....you are indeed correct, I will explain further.

Whenever I connected my phone to the PC, the phone itself gives me a range of options before I can continue, one of the options was to connect using the PC suite, another of the options was to connect using the memory card, and there are also two more, which I cannot remember.

I have always, or so I thought as I dont connect my phone to the PC that often, used the pc suite option to connect the phone to the computer.

However, after reading what you said, I have just connected and used the 'memory card option, which is drive 'E'.
I have now therefore been able to uninstall the nokia software installer from my phone which is what I wanted to do inb the first place.

Must remember in future to connect the phone to the pc using both the memory card option and then the pc suite option.

Thanks also to msmicawber, who took the trouble to reply, although I have no idea how to get to the command prompt thingy. I dont even know what it is.

I am now about to reinstall to my pc the nokia pc suite and move forward from there. Hopefully now I am starting from scratch, both the PC and the phone have been re started

I ll let you know how I get on

    Once again, many thanks

    To continue,

I have just been on the Nokia website in order to download the Nokia Software Updater to my PC.

I downloaded it successfully, but when I come to run it, I get the error message that I have been describing previously.

My phone is not connected to my PC. I am trying to install the software to my PC alone.

    Help please

Just be careful but you can backup your registry before doing any changes see here.

I have delved deep into the registry and I have found that i do have a problem as seen in the screen print in the link that you sent to me. Except its my music, my video and my picture files that are supposedly on the 'e' drice but actually they are on my 'c' drive

What do I do? Just highlight and delete? And as for backing up the registry...well thats a whole other world to me.

Is there another way of fixing my problem?

If you double click on My Computer and you definitely don't have an E: drive, I would say that you could safely delete that entry in the registry. If you are worried about doing this, it's only four steps to backup your registry before doing the edit.

Nope, no 'e' drive at all in my computer, and as far as I know there never has been, except when my phone is connected.
I then see an 'e' drive, which is the memory card in the phone itself.

Just out of interest, when I click on the items in the right hand side of the registry pane, it only highlights the first bit of the line. Not the whole line itself.

Is this normal or should it be a right click
