Yes. Vodafone passport only applies to the phone that's making the calls.

As Martin's article advises, the Vodafone passport is most often the best deal if you're already with them, otherwise the global sim option is best. :)

You can buy Vodaphone sims $10 each from most supermarkets, although the cheapest way to call UK from Australia is to buy a phonecard, this is the site we use
    http://www.ozprepaidcards.com.au

the 'honest' card costs about $10 and you pay 0.36c per minute to phone UK mobiles and 0.02c per minute to UK landline.

I am going to australia in 3 weeks for a short trip and i would like to use my mobile phone over there to contact people in australia and for my family to call me from uk. i did a bit of search and it sounds that my best option is to buy an oz sim card ( pay as you go). my questions are:

1- is it cheaper to buy it in australia or shall i buy it inthe uk and from who?

2- my phone is samsung F700 on vodafone...i tried to insert 3 simcard in it and it worked..does that mean it is unlocked and it will work with oz simcards.

any help will be much appreciated

    Hi there sam1970,

I've seen your post and thought I'd give an official answer from Vodafone. I can see that SnowWhiterThanWhite has already given you the link to the Vodafone website which covers Vodafone Passport and in addition I think you'll be pleased to hear that it'll cover calls made within Australia.

Also, when your wife and daughter call you from you UK all they'll be charged are standard UK rates or better still if they've got inclusive minutes left the calls with come out of these.

As you've been able to use a 3 SIM in your phone this would inidicate that it isn't locked and so you should be able to use an Australian SIM it in as well.

Hope this helps and have a great trip.

thank you cooldaddy08...i have just contacted vodafone and registered for the passport...the only problem now is that the customer service agent told me that i will need to be on vodafone network in austraila to be able to use the passport so if i am in an area covered by another network (optus, telestra..etc) i will not be able to use the passport...not great help isnt it?
