    not really :o

Did she not inform anyone she had a child?
As long as the OP claims all the relevent benefits for her child and informs the HB office, her HB will be adjusted acordingly, so she'll get more. dunno if that makes sense lol

No, she didn't inform anybody she had a child. So she wasn't getting any extra money or the higher rate of HB she was entitled to for living in a house with so many rooms.

She now owes the landlord quite alot of money, as there is a big monthly shortfall in the amount of rent he is receiving.

And I THINK she had her money reduced in the end for not passing over the Fathers details.

  • Hi Dippychick, thanks for your reply, I would tell the tax credits people that I had had the baby, but i just don't want to tell them about the dad. I only get a very very small amount of tax credit & HB, and I would rather not claim it than get him involved at the moment. Its just so stressful at the mo. I just need a break from him & can't cope with him at the mo. I just want to do it on my own. Thanks for your reply :)

Hi Astonsmummy, thank you for your reply, that is such a relief to know at the moment. thank you :)

Oh right, i get you now.
Yes money is reduced if no details are given unless their is a good reason such as violence or something.
Not that giving names makes much difference anyway, they couldnt manage to find a NRP if they were standing next to them

Very sad but true, but don't they always usually manage to find the ones that owe the system money? Or is that a myth?

The CSA only get involved in you claim Income support or JSA income based. Not Housing benefits or Tax credits so don't worry

Don't ever let CSA be a barrier to you claiming either of these benefits though as CSA are not the fastest movers!

There are limited reasons for not providing info though but these are mainly due to violence.
