I was going to mention almost the same things as PD. The museum is a very good place to start.
If you're coming by train, and if the weather is good, why not bring a bike? You can get around town and down the bay really easily and cheaply by bike. You can also cycle or walk right across the barrage now. Get to the Norwegian church and keep going across the little bridge. I sometimes spend half an hour watching the boats coming and going throught the sea locks on the Penarth side before having a quick pint in El Puerto. I believe you can also cycle up the Ely Trail to St Fagans, which I haven't yet done myself but I bet it's really nice.
There are plenty of places to enjoy a packed lunch, or I suppose Wetherspoons are quite cheap.
The free concerts in the Millenium Centre foyer are usually at lunchtime I think. I too went to the Dr Who exhibition (in the nearby Red Dragon centre) when it was free to enter and thought it was pretty good. It's not the biggest exhibition though and again I agree with PD that it's now a bit expensive.
As PD says, Bute Park is superb. If you are on foot, and don't mind forking out a couple of quid, it's quite nice to get a water taxi from Bute Park (near the animal bridge) down to the Bay. If you're cycling go along the Taff Trail. Or actually it's not to far too walk.
Yes you can do a tour of the senedd, or the stadium perhaps. I think you might need to book in advance and the stadium is probably a few quid.0 -
Also there is a Dr Who Exibition at the UCI Complex, dont know what its like but there was a big queue to see it the other evening!
A open bus tour has got to be on your agenda as you get to see everything and can hop on and off at anytime.

actually beamish the open top tour is quite a good call for people who have a full day to spend. as open top bus tours goes the price seems pretty reasonable. if you pick up their map leaflet it shows you the places where you can get discount by showing your bus ticket too :money:know thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0
