I would highly recommend Giovanni's Italian restuarant. It is located just past Caroline Street next door to Spiller's Records (the World's 1st record shop?). Excellent food with a great chaotic Italian atmosphere.

Cardiff Bay is has a real continental feel when the weather is nice.

Avoid St. Mary street on Friday & Saturday nights.

If you're after something meaty (and not a chain) try either Charlestons Steak House or Taurus.

I admit to preferring Charleston's - best enjoyed about 10.30.p.m or later;)

I worked 1 night in Taurus when I was 18.

I had to throw my shoes away because they were covered in the blood that had seeped out of the boxes of steaks that were left on the floor to defrost.

I was already veggie, but even my (then) boyf was disgusted with it.

Echoing really what S@sha said, plenty to do in Cardiff.

What kind of things do you like to do? What type of food do you like etc and I'm sure we can all come up with plenty of suggestions for you.

Thinking about going to the millenium stadium and maybe the castle. Also want to go visit the bay, how long do you think you need down on the bay is an evening enough or is it more of a day out?

Foodwise not fussy, dont want anything to expensive. Is their a nice wetherspoons in cardiff as i like their food or anything similar? Also can anyone recommened a good chinese?

    Thanks

Hi the millenium stadium tour is great and there is a wetherspoons right opposite the entrance to the tour gate called THE GATEKEEPER (i think).

Surely you have to try chicken curry off the bone from Dorothy's in Caroline St? Not too sure what it's like now that they've cleaned it up a bit though!

Seriously though, Signor Valentino's down tha bay is very nice.

The Pearl of the Orient on Mermaid Quay I mentioned in my last post is chinese, they're very good and average prices i think.

No offence but if you want authentic Chinese forget Pearl of the Orient. The best chinese is the Riverside in Tudor Road. It's about a 5min walk from the stadium. Have a look on trip advisor to see the reviews and they have a website that you can view the menu here: http://www.riversidecantonese.com

If you're down for the weekend go there on either a Sat or Sun lunchtime for the best Dim Sum you can get.

In terms of what else to do have you thought of a visit to St Fagans? It's really nice and there is loads to look at.

You couldn't get a much better place to stay than Mill Lane. Very central.
