where did the dvd data come from? was it an AVI file from a camcorder or 'tinternet? if yes, the problem is that you have burnt the avi to a dvd, not dvd data, there are plenty of programs to convert from avi to dvd (vob, ifo etc), I use convertx2dvd, but I dont know of any free ones, hopefully someone else will. maybe if you have nero burning rom you will have a util to convertUtinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0

Could also be a problem with the + or - or even a simple thing of the manufacturer of your disk i think we may need a little more info to give the answer:hello: Lets all save a £ or two, lets all earn a £ or two, and lets all enjoy spending that £ or two wisely.

All my disks were like this when I first started burning them. Once I found out they should be `finalised` they were ok to play in all players.

Unfortunately a lot of standalone DVD players have poor CD/DVD drives inside of them. They'll only accept the highest quality (ie most expensive) media and give you unstable results with cheaper discs.
Assuming you've written it correctly (ie DVD format) try it out on a friends dvd player or even on your computer to see if its recognised as a DVD.0 -
thanks all, the file came from a jvc everio camcorder and disc was burnt using their docking station the disc works ok in computer so perhaps it does need to be finialised? how do I do that?my bark is worse than my bite!!!!!!!!0

What software do you use? probably a check box option in "Options" needs to be ticked or when you are loading the file to burn, just before you burn there maybe the option to finalise.:hello: Lets all save a £ or two, lets all earn a £ or two, and lets all enjoy spending that £ or two wisely.

When you have burnt it, what can you see on the disk in explorer?
Do you see a single file or two folders (Audio_ts and Video_ts)0 -
Did you use a DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD+RW or DVD-RW as the blank disc?
Whilst these disc may work in your computer, your stand alone might only read some of them.
What is the model and brand number of the DVD player?
I ask, because the Share Station is ssupposed to convert the .MOD flies from the Everio to DVD Video. So the problem may be with the type of discs on which you are choosing to record.0 -
the disc came free with the docking station its jvc its aDVD-R for Video/Data 1-16x high speed grande vitesse 120 mins 4.7 gb single sided the dvd player recorder plays everything its about 2 years old and no problem with any other disc so its me not doing something?my bark is worse than my bite!!!!!!!!0
