I have a Nokia 6300 which I love being a Nokia fan, as it's so simple to use. I can't comment on the Sony Ericson though.

I love my 6300. The only reason I will upgrade when I get the chance is because the camera doesn't have a flash. Apart from that it's an excellent all-rounder.

Never owned a Sony Ericsson although a friend of mine swears by them

Vote for the Sony here. I had Nokia's for about seven years, last upgrade I got the 6300, after three months I bought a Sony and the Nokia is in it's box collecting dust.

The battery life is shockingly bad on the 6300, I had to charge it almost every day. Besides the battery life there's nothing amazingly bad about the 6300, but there's also nothing amazingly good about it either, it's an extremely average phone. And that's coming from a Nokia fan.

another advantage for the k550 is that it can have the w610 walkman software on it if you want
